Hi I'm Darlene

I'm a Mormon. I joined the church when I was 16.

About Me

I've been married for 26 years, and I have 3 adult children, the oldest is married. I work full time as an Office Manager. My hobbies include scrapbooking, card marking, quilting, traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

My first exposure to the Mormon church was as a high school freshman. At the time, I had no idea who the Mormons were. It all began with a boy !! At the time we met, he was also a freshman, and (in accordance with church standards) not old enough to date. Instead, he would take me to church activities and dances. Eventually, he invited me to church with him. Although it was very different from any other church meeting I had been too, it quickly became very comfortable. As I learned more and more about the church and it's teachings, it all seemed very logical to me. I continued to attend church and date the young man ! After more than a year of attending all the meetings and activities, I attended a youth conference at BYU with several of the other youth I attended church with. It was during this conference that I recognized I had a testimony of the church and it's teachings. That was when I decided to be baptized. That's why I joined the church. But why do I continue to attend and follow the teachings? Because it gives me great peace, happiness and hope. Once I truly understood and embraced all the teachings of the Mormon church, I developed an understanding of God, Jesus Christ, and my worth as an individual. The teachings of the church have also helped me deal with some very difficult things in my life. Over all, I believe my church membership has helped me become a much better person that I could have or would have, had I not joined more than 30 years ago.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as an adult Sunday School teacher. This is a great opportunity for me to really study and understand the scriptures. It has tremendously increased my testimony of the scriptures and the truths found in them. We are currently studying the New Testament, and it has really increased my testimony of my Savior. In the past, I have served in several capacities. I have been the president of our ward (congregation) women's organization; I have worked with and taught the youth; I have organized activities for our congregation. Each has afforded me the opportunity to learn more about myself and to develop skills and talents I wasn't really aware that I possessed. It has also given me an opportunity to rub shoulders with and get to know members of my congregations. How do I live my Faith? Ultimately, I try everyday to make good decisions. Do I always hit my mark? No. But if I miss the mark one day, I know I have the next day to try again.
