Hi I'm Russ
I'm a Mormon. I grew up in California and served in the US military for 30 years moving around the world.
About Me
I am a husband, father, grandfather and am retired. I enjoy activities with my family, playing racquetball and staying busy around my neighborhood. I have spent almost half of my life on nuclear submarines travelling around the world. I have 2 children and 5 grandchildren who live close. I also enjoy woodworking and tinkering.
Why I am a Mormon
I went through the early part of my life with little or no religious involvement. At the age of 24 I met a woman whom I married and she was an inactive member of the Mormaon church. After we had children and my wife became active in the Mormon church I started investigating the church. After over 8 years of marriage I accepted the gospel of Jesus Christ and was baptized into the Mormon church. I was still in the military and was in and out frequently. I really started living the gospel after a few years and know it was the right decision. I have known more happiness and joy both inside my family and in life since living in the manner the Lord wants me to live.
How I live my faith
I live my faith through service. I have served with young men, adults, young single adults and in administration over the course of quite a few years. I always feel that I get much more out of the service I provide than I give. Seeing the growth in young people or helping someone in need is a remarkable way to serve the Lord. I am grateful every day for the opportunities I have to serve and it has helped me understand myself and life.
