Hi I'm Judy

I'm a Mormon. I grew up and later raised my family of five children in Utah. I am a 5th grade aide at our elementary school.

About Me

My husband and I are elementary school teachers. We have five children and six grandsons. We live on an acre of land so we have a large vegetable garden and fruit trees. Gardening is one of our hobbies. Being with our family is our favorite thing to do. Some activities we enjoy doing together are; hiking, camping, visiting museums, playing music together and just playing in the yard. Our youngest daughter just graduated from High School. Our two oldest daughters are married with three little boys each. Our older son is majoring in chemistry at Utah Valley University. Our younger son is serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints in Raleigh, North Carolina. He will complete his missionary experience this summer. We are looking forward to his return. An important part of my life and my family's life is service to others. It is a great blessing in our lives and we strive to regularly find ways to serve our neighbors, friends or others who have needs. In turn, our lives and enriched and joyful. We find that what we try to give to others returns many time over.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were active, faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ. I was brought up with the example of a mom and dad who lived devoted Christian lives. I wanted to have the same testimony and faith that they had, and I knew this had to be something I developed for myself. Their example gave me the desire to obtain my own faith and testimony. From a very young age, I knew God was there, that He was the most powerful influence in my life and I wanted to learn all I could about Him. Also, I had a great desire to live in a way that would please Him and allow me to be close to Him during my life here on earth. I desired this because I was taught and came to know that God, or Father in Heaven, sent me to earth with a specific purposes to accomplish and a mission to fulfill. This included lives to touch, gifts to discover and share and character traits to develop. I wanted to be and become the best person I could be, a true disciple of Christ. I have gained a knowledge, a witness that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. It is the way to happiness and peace. The closer I live to the things I know and feel, the happier I am. After 55 years of life, I continue to learn more about the gospel and Jesus Christ. My life is deeply blessed through my membership and activity in the Church. I desire others to feel the joy that knowing truth brings.

How I live my faith

It is my great opportunity and privilege to serve in a wonderful women's organization. It was created for the women of the church to serve one another and others in their neighborhoods and communities. Everyday I have chances to help those in my group. We organize meals, childcare, transportation and care for those who have illness, medical situations or other needs. We visit each other's homes once a month to give an message of inspiration and uplift. In those visits, we learn about needs and concerns of the women their families and then organize assistance. We seek out the needy and hungry and gather resources to help. We also gather for classes to learn about provident living, home organization, budgeting, gardening, health and well-being, nutritional food preparation and other ways to strengthen our lives and families. Our family spends time together each morning before we go off to school and work. We sing a hymn, read from the scriptures or words of living prophets and pray together. We again gather for family prayer and scripture reading at our evening meal. On Monday evenings we hold family time together. This is a time to study truths of the gospel, plan our week ahead, have fun and just spend time together. This is a way our family has bonded and been strengthened through the years. The gospel of Jesus Christ is truly a way of life for me. I hope I may continue to have opportunities to grow personally and to serve faithfully.
