Hi I'm Janice

I`m a wife, mother of 4 daughters and a grandma. I found the church when I was 24 years old. I love going for walks. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I`m a wife and mother of 4 daughters. I was a stay at home mom for 20 years while we raised our daughters. One daughter has married and become a mother herself, one is serving a mission and I still have 2 teenage daughters at home. I now work in an office of a high school which I really enjoy. I love to read. My husband and I like to play volleyball and have played volleyball with the same community group for the past 20 years. I love to go for walks either with family or friends or with my i-pod. I enjoy gardening and baking. My parents and sisters are not members of the church but have always supported us by coming to our special events such as baby blessings, baptisms of our daughters, and special church activities. They see the goodness that the gospel as been in our lives. I really appreciate the support my family has given me.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in my early twenties I started feeling like there had to be more to life than what I had. I was brought up in a Christian home and I knew of Jesus Christ and I knew that prophets had spoken to people of old. I began asking questions such as what happens after this life, what is the purpose of life. Where did we come from - who am I. Why have prophets stopped speaking to the people. A friend gave me some reading material to help answer some of these questions and when I read the story of Joseph Smith it was as though I had heard it before and I knew it was the truth. When I heard there was a living prophet on the earth today it felt right. I read the Book of Mormon and received a testimony of its truthfulness through prayer. I joined the Church over 25 years ago when I was 24 and it was the best decision I`ve made in my life. I married that friend and we`ve raised our daughters in the gospel. We`ve been sealed in the temple for time and eternity. One daughter has also married in the temple for time and eternity, and one daughter is currently serving a mission. I wouldn`t have wanted to raise our daughters in this world without the values taught by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Our family has enjoyed fellowship with other church members in participating in organized sporting events, plays, musical events, picnics, community service projects, etc. We help collect food for the needy, clean up parks and streams, sew needed items for hospices, etc. Service projects are organized for our youth so they get opportunities to serve others in their community. We enjoy regular weekly activities with others of our faith in addition to our Sunday worship services. The gospel has opened our eyes and made us more aware of the needs of those around us and has taught us how to be of service to others. My husband and I have woken up early every school day for the past 11 years or so to take our daughters to their early morning seminary classes. I`ve made friends with other parents as we`ve walked and talked during our children`s class time in the morning. When we are asked to serve in the church we put forth our best effort. We participate in Sunday services by giving talks when asked and bearing testimony of the gospel. We try to be good neighbours, family members and friends.
