Hi I'm Cameron Fernandez

I love my wife and children. I love my friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married to a wonderful woman, way too smart and beautiful for me. We have five fantastic children who crack us up and make us crazy all at the same time. Besides spending time with my amazing family, I love surfing and playing basketball and baseball. I enjoy music, especially punk rock, and watching sports. I have been blessed with incredible friends and cherish the rare opportunity to spend time with them. I'm a divorce lawyer, which at first blush may seem odd since I am very pro-family. I have found family law to be a perfect fit for my personality and talents. Many times, my clients are good people going through one of the darkest phases of their lives. I enjoy being able to help them get past some of life's biggest challenges and sharing gospel principles with them while doing so. Practicing family law also makes me very grateful for my own family and our occasional struggles.

Why I am a Mormon

Late in my teenage years, a series of unfortunate events gave me cause to really question the purpose of life. I felt lost, weak and helpless. While pondering my situation one day, I felt prompted to read the Book of Mormon for the first time. I secretly borrowed a copy from my friend's mom, and read it at night over the next several months. The content of the book was enlightening, but also familiar in a very subtle way. As time passed, life started to make more and more sense. I felt more peace in my life. As I got close to finishing the book, a big part of me resisted. My reading pace slowed for a while, but eventually I resolved to complete the book. As I did, I read the challenge to ponder what I had read and ask God in prayer if what I had read was not true. I took the challenge and have known ever since that the Book of Mormon is a true book of scripture. Since that time, my life has been enriched beyond description by the restored gospel of Jesus Christ taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As I have tried to live my law in accordance with the tenents of the Mormon faith, I have been blessed with peace, understanding and happiness. Being a Mormon has made me a better person. I am a better husband, father, son, brother, neighbor and friend than I would otherwise be without the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have read the Book of Mormon more than a dozen times and am amazed by the new treasures I continue to find in it. The doctrine in the Book of Mormon helps me better understand the Bible and the message, ministry and mission of the Savior Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I know, without a doubt, that Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is in fact Jesus Christ's church, which was restored to the earth in these latter days.

How I live my faith

I try hard to live my life in a way that is pleasing to Heavenly Father. I try to study the gospel each day, both with my family and on my own. I pray several times each day, both privately and with my family. I try to be kind, respectful and helpful to those around me. Most importantly, I try to repent each day of the mistakes that I make and strive to be a better person everyday. Over the last 15 years, I have had several different types of opportunities to serve in the Church. I take my responsibilities in the Church seriously and try hard to execute them appropriately. One of my favorite responsibilities associated with my Church membership is the opportunity I have to visit people in their homes to share a gospel message, pray and provide service.
