Hi I'm Skyler Droubay

I am a recently married student studying engineering. Right now my profession is driving trucks. I'm a truck driver and a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 22 year old living in Utah and I just recently got married in 2010. Life is really great but my wife and I are so busy with getting our lives started. She works full time and depending on the season I work full/part time and go to school full/part time as I am studying to be an engineer. In the summer I drive trucks all around the state and work really long hours. It makes it difficult having to work all day and often sleep in my truck instead of coming home to my wife but we make it work and we are just as happy as can be. We truly feel that we have been blessed to have each other and to have good jobs in a hard economic time. We know without a doubt that so many of the things we have are directly connected to our commitment to follow the gospel each and every day.

Why I am a Mormon

One of my many reasons is directly connected to my work. As a truck driver I meet some very interesting people in this industry and unfortunately quite a few people I meet are in sad circumstances, not necessarily financially but emotionally or socially. As I talk with them and hear of their issues in life, 99 of the time I can directly point to a gospel principle that would easily fix the problem if they believed it. That is only because I have experienced some of those issues at some point and the gospel has indeed fixed them, but ultimately my reason comes down to the fact that I read the scriptures and asked God in prayer if it was all true and I received the answer that it truly is, I've done that more than once and the answer always comes.

How I live my faith

Well the way I like to is by trying to be a good example to those around me. Problems seem to occur at work all the time and so I have always tried to be more patient and have a laugh at everything that happens. Plus as I wait for my truck to get loaded I can talk with others and try to bring up religion at some point and share with them what I have found. My wife and I also get the opportunity to teach the 17-18 year olds in Sunday School which is a lot of fun. Other than that my wife and I make sure to pray together and individually, also reading our scriptures daily is a much needed source of direction and inspiration in our lives.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Skyler Droubay
There is no better way to have a marriage than to have the Lord involved in your relationship. As I mentioned earlier I see a lot of issues with people I work with and many are marital problems. I know that because both my wife and I believe and do our best to apply the teachings of the Savior, although we come up short many times, it is because we are trying to apply those teaching that we have a fantastic marriage. So far from perfect but we are continually happy no matter what issues we face. We hope to be able to share that with our future kids as well. Show more Show less
