Hi I'm Ellen

I'm a Mormon. I grew up Catholic. I always knew there was more and searched for years to find it.

About Me

I am a widow. I lost my husband four years ago as the result of a car accident. I work as an Apartment Manager. I have seven children, twenty-six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. I lost an eight year old grandson to cancer last year. I love to read and cook. I love getting together with my family which we do very often.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised Catholic. I went to all Catholic schools. I always loved going to church and was always drawn to spirital things. From the time I was in my early thirties and went on a Renewal through the Catholic Church and felt the Holy Spirit, I knew there was more. I also always thought I had been somewhere before I was born but never understood why. In my early forties, I left the Catholic Church and joined another church. At this time, my oldrest son joined the LDS church. At the time, he had been healed of cancer and was on a journey to find the true church. He lived in another state. He told me about the church but I didn't want to change churches again. I liked my new church but still didn't find "more". I couldn't really define more, just that I knew I didn't know it all. My husbnd and I moved to another city and joined yet a different church. We attended for six years. They preached against Mormonism. I decided to talk to the missionaries to find out what Mormons really did believe. I knew the church I was attending was wrong in what they said about Mormons as I knew my son had explained things to me and what this church was saying wasn't true, or certainly, out context. I did the missionary discussions with my husband. We knew from the beginning that what they were saying was true. By the third discussion, I realized that I had found what "more" I had been looking for. I also loved learning about the Plan of Salvation to know where I had come from. We were both baptized and it was the happiest we had been ever as we had found the truth.

How I live my faith

I am Relief Society President right now. I have had a number of different callings. I am so happy to know that my husband is waiting on the other side for me and that we have eternal families. I love the Word of Wisdom. I thought it would be hard to give up the things asked of me but it was truly freeing. I have joy in my heart so I don't need a glass of wine to relax. I have the Spirit to testify to me. I try to serve in the church. I know I am doing what the Lord want me to do. I love every day and am thankful.
