Hi I'm Marcela

I grew up in Mexico. I was a mexican folk dancer, I studied Social Work, I was a full time mom for 20 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 6. I was a stay at home mom for over 20 years and then joined the workforce. I love being a mom. I was born and raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Mexico. My ancestors are among some of the first members of the Church and I have been blessed by their courage, example and testimony of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

As a teenager I began to question my beliefs. Did I believe as I did simply because I had been taught from my youth? I was grateful for the teachings of the Church that encourage each member to find out for themselves the truthfulness of its teachings. I decided to put it to the test. As I headed off to College I committed to find out for myself if the Book of Mormon was a true record and if this Church indeed had the Authority of God on the Earth. I read daily from the Book of Mormon and prayed fervently for about a year. I had heard others talk about receiving a personal testimony through the Holy Ghost, but I had never experienced it personally. I did not think I could experience such a thing but I acted in faith and continued to read and pray. One afternoon, as I walked down a hill reading from the Book of Mormon, unexpectedly it came! It was like pure knowledge entering my mind. I knew without a doubt that the Book of Mormon was a true record, that the teachings contained there were from God and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was indeed His Church restored for our day. I knew it and I felt it. There was no doubt! It is difficult to explain to someone who has not experienced such a thing. It is like trying to explain what salt tastes like to someone who has never tasted it. But it was real!! I knew without a doubt.

How I live my faith

I am grateful for the testimony I have received. It has shaped my life and given meaning to it. I try to follow Christ in my daily life. I try to be of service to my neighbors and "be an example of the believers" in all that I do. I love my family--my parents, my husband and my children. I love my neighbors, my coworkers and my friends. I hope that through my actions they can feel the love I feel for them and for my Savior, Jesus Christ.
