Hi I'm Dave.

I am a cheesehead from Wisconsin but now live in Minnesota. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I met in college and were married about 12 years ago. We have four children - three daughters and a son. They keep us busy but are very fun. Since we have been married we have lived in Utah, Michigan, Chile and now Minnesota. We moved to Chile for work and lived there for about six years. It was a great experience for our family. We were able to experience a new culture, foods, language and make many great friends. I really enjoy listening to my two oldest daughters speak Spanish fluently. Hopefully that will help them later on in life. I had learned Spanish when I was a missionary there for two years. I never knew that I would be able to return one day with my family. I really enjoy sports. Playing them is always better than watching them on TV. Basketball, football and golf are a lot of fun.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ shortly before I was born so I basically grew up going to the Mormon church on Sunday. Religion is a very important, personal decision and I didn't want to be Mormon just because my parents were. So I decided to study for myself. This included reading and studying the Bible and Book of Mormon, listening to what is preached, thinking about what is important in a religion and reading the talks by prophets and leaders of the church. Finally I prayed to ask God if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints was His church. Now I know for myself that the Book of Mormon is scripture written by ancient prophets and another testament (along with the Bible) of the life and ministry of Jesus. I also know that God leads this church by revealing His will to the prophet.

How I live my faith

The great thing about attending church each week is that I recieve positive reinforcement of how to be more like Jesus. That is very helpful in being a husband, parent, employee, etc. Each week our family gets together to learn something (normally an area where we need help) and play some game. We also try to reach scriptures each day with those children that can read. This helps them in reading and also learning some of the great lessons from the prophets or Jesus himself.
