Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 21 years old and currently serving a mission in the Washinton DC South area, spanish speaking. Before deciding to serve a mission I lived in hawaii for four years and was going to school there. I love being there, being surrounded by nothing but the ocean, swimming and bodysurfing all day, experiencing a closeness with nature that allows you to feel free.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 17 I moved from my home in california to hawaii. It was there that I found myself as an individual, it was there that I found my love for this gospel. When I was young my grandmother died and then 6 months later my dad passed away. My grandfather moved in with us and he quickly became my best friend. The summer after I turned 18 he passed away. I rememeber being so angry at the situation and not understanding why this had to happen again. For about 3 years, I allowed myself to be angry, I tried to find happiness through other means that did not include the church. It took me a while but I finally realized what I needed to be happy. For the first time in 3 years, I prayed and asked heavenly father for help. It was then that I found the peace and happiness I was looking for. In was as I put my faith in Jesus Christ and the Atonement that I became comforted and that I realized I could not go on denying the truth that I had known my whole life, that Jesus Christ lives, he is my savior, he loves us. Through him we can have eternal life and live with God and our families for eternity. I am so grateful for the blessings I have recieved by living the gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by acting on it. I cannot deny the truthfullness of this church, it has blessed my life in so many ways. I was lost, but through my faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement I am found. As I came to the knowledge of the peace that the gospel gives me, I decided that I could not deny it to others. I am living my faith by sharing it with others, to help others find the peace, faith, comfort, and joy that I have found by putting my faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement.
