Hi I'm Brian

I like math, biking, and hockey. I love being married to my best friend and being Dad to three beautiful daughters. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a doctoral student in Aerospace Engineering because I enjoy the math of optimal control of systems described by ordinary differential equations. I enjoy biking to school and work. I also enjoy skating and playing hockey (usually street, but ice is great too), especially on dates with my wife. She is my best friend and we are the parents of three beautiful daughters who are fortunate to have inherited much of their mother's smile. I can enjoy a good home improvement project (i.e., remodeling the kitchen and bathroom, adding new siding to the front of the house, etc), but have even more fun playing with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it brings me joy. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings me joy because it helps me to see his love and the blessings that He has given me. His love, mercy, and generosity are perfectly amazing. Because of His perfect, personal, and daily demonstration of these attributes to me, I want to follow Him and become more like Him. His atoning sacrifice makes it possible for me to strive to do that better each day. It is the source of my hope that I can become all that He wants me to be and that I can be worthy to return to be with Him eternally with my beautiful family. I have felt this hope and the attendant joy many times and in many ways, but in none more fully than when I have heard prophets and apostles teach and testify of the Savior and His gospel and then felt the Spirit teach me that they really are called of God and that their words are true.

How I live my faith

Following the Savior is most important to me in my role as a husband and father. Of course there is always much I can do to improve in this, but some of the ways that I try to lead my family in living the gospel are to lead them in family prayer and scripture study. Other ways in which I seek to live the gospel of Jesus Christ are by serving in various other church capacities, including as an assistant clerk, an assistant Cub Scout leader, and in the opportunities I have to serve others in our our congregation.
