Hi I'm Ben

I like to make tv. I love key lime pie. I believe that children are our future. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised by wonderful parents in quiet suburban paradise. I’ve always been extremely lucky and have been given unbelievable opportunities. The biggest life lessons of my formative years came in my driveway playing basketball games of 21 on a generous hoop that always let more in then it kept out. I love long walks on the beach; looking at Christmas lights and parking my car nose out. I read Malcolm Gladwell books and I think that makes me fancy. I’ve heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason. I agree.

Why I am a Mormon

I know God lives and I know that he loves me. I’ve had experiences where I’ve prayed and sometimes instantly and sometimes over years I’ve received answers. Reflecting back I marvel how uniquely suited my blessings have been to my needs and desires. I know that God truly is the best gardener we can have in our lives. I know that He lets us make our own decisions, but as we strive to listen to him he never lets us go to far in the wrong direction. My favorite thing about the gospel is the immense amount of hope if offers. Life isn’t always awesome, but its in those moments that we realize through the power of the Atonement life can be awesome again. Through the light of Christ disappointment and sadness become mere events and not the substance of life. Our Heavenly Father has so many wonderful things for us when we daily make the choice to walk with him. Reading the Book of Mormon everyday has increased my knowledge of God and strengthened my relationship with him. I know when I’m in the habit of reading the scriptures everyday I have more hope that the decisions I make will lead to good consequences, I find it easier to make girls laugh and I’m more comfortable explaining myself in meetings or serious conversations. Reading the scriptures helps me identify the hand of God in my life and helps me make decisions to stay closer to him.

How I live my faith

Some of the more rewarding experiences I’ve had living my faith have came as I embraced the opportunity to organize service projects in my community. Service is a wonderful way to give back for all the blessings I’ve received. Some of my cherished friendships began as I was united with others in weeding a local park. I’ve also had the immense blessing to work at a church sponsored camp where youth both study the scriptures and have gospel themed discussions as well as play games and interact at dances. This experience gave me the opportunity to share my testimony of how the gospel has helped me. Working in an environment surrounded by the future leaders of the church has created memories that continually help me recommit to the gospel, facilitating better and happier decisions in my own life.
