Hi I'm Sam

I grew up in Las Vegas. I have a master's in health promotion. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a reader; I'm sort of obsessive if I'm in the middle of a good book. I would love to get really good at photography and I'm learning to use Photoshop. I love to cook when I have the time, but I rarely have the time. I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia and that has really changed my life. I love playing with my kids - I have two. My husband is awesome. I'm lucky to be able to stay home with my kids. I've also been blessed with an amazing and supportive extended family.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are Mormon, so I was raised in the LDS church. I always knew it was the true church, but I remember when I knew for myself how important it is to live the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was around 12 and went to a TV show audition on a Sunday. (I can't believe my parents let me go, but they must have really understood how important it was to me at the time.) An older teenage girl from my ward was also there. She saw me and got us to the front of the line because she was determined that we would at least make it to church in time to take the sacrament. We only had time to go to her house to change into dresses. Somehow, she had a dress and shoes that fit me - a small miracle. This was the first time I realized how important it is to set aside a day to worship God. I realized that believing in the gospel wasn't good enough. I needed to live it as well. I continue to try to live as a true disciple of Jesus Christ. I try to follow the commandments and serve others. Knowing that we are all God's children helps me to see others in the best light and treat them with love and respect. I'm a Mormon because I know that God continues to communicate with His children through living prophets. Why would our time be any different than those in the Bible? I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and does truly testify of Jesus Christ. Along with the Bible, the Book of Mormon gives me a more complete picture of who He is and how I should live. I know that prayers are answered one way or another. I know that through the priesthood, families can be eternal. I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it is the true church.

How I live my faith

I pray and study the scriptures. I teach my children about the gospel. I try to help others when I can. I try to live my life in a way that would be pleasing to God.
