Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a mother, a wife, and an avid reader. I love gardening and doing art work. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My father was in the United States Air Force so as a young child we lived many places in, California, Colorado and Japan. When he retired we settled in Colorado where I grew up. After High School I went to Art School in California. I met my husband while he was going to school in Utah. We have been married for 17 years and have four beautiful children. We have lived in California for the past 12 years. I am a full time mom which takes most of my time. I fill in my extra time with volunteering at my kids school, reading which includes belonging to a book club and helping with the local cub scout troop. I love to go on nature walks, working in my garden, playing with my cat and going on dates with my husband. We love a going to the movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as in a Mormon family, but when my parents divorced it was really hard on me. I was 15 years old at the time. In high school I stopped living the teachings of the church and stopped going to church before I left for collage. In Art School I witnessed and lived a life style very different from how I was raised. I was very unhappy, full of darkness and felt empty in heart and spirit. My sweet family continued to love and pray for me, especially two of my sisters that would send me letters full of love and asking me to come back to the church. They would share their love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ with me. The summer after my freshmen year, my Mom had moved to Utah, and I spend the summer with my family. My older sister was getting ready to graduate from collage and to get married in a Mormon temple. She was living the life I knew I wanted but I did not know how to get there from the life I had been living. I started going to church with my sisters and reading the Book of Mormon for the first time. I meet with a church bishop and ask him what steps I need to take to come back. He told me I was on the right path in going to church and reading the Book of Mormon. And that I needed to change my life style. But most importantly that I could gain a testimony (or belief and knowledge) of 5 things. The 1st was to know that Jesus was the Christ and He truly atoned for my sins. That He and Heavenly Father loves me. 2nd that the Book of Mormon was the word of God, just like the Bible. 3rd that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. And 4th that the Church he founded as God's prophet was God's Church on the earth today. The 5th was who to marry. With a lot of hard work, I prayed, asked forgiveness, changed my life style, studied the scriptures;especially the Book of Mormon. Then I was able to gain knowledge of the 1st four things. And years later I found my husband for the 5th thing.

How I live my faith

I have done many things since I gained a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I have taught children in Sunday school, supervised toddlers while their parents attended Sunday school and now I volunteer on a cub scout committee for the boys in our church. I love reading my scriptures and preparing for Sunday school class each week. I pray often to my Heavenly Father and feel of His love for me. As a family we pray over our meals and have family prayer each night. Life at times is not easy and can be very busy but it is because of my faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement that I find peace. It's though answers to my prays that I gain help and direction each day. I know my peace and happiness our blessing from my Heavenly Father.

What do Mormons believe happens after we die?

Our spirits return to the God that gave us life. Our bodies stay on the earth while our spirits go to a spirit world. Then at a later time we will all be resurrected, meaning our bodies and spirits will be reunited. While we wait for the resurrection we will be with our family and loves ones again, and anyone that has not learned about Jesus Christ or His gospel will have a chance to learn and accept Him.
