Hi I'm Matt.

I grew up in Idaho. I am a student, a professional, and a father. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

My family and I enjoy reading together, watching movies, rough-housing and having fun. I enjoy spending free time "frolfing" with friends. I am also a professional salesperson who gets a thrill out of meeting new people and getting to know them.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I, my brother, and our sister, were raised following their examples of faith. My mother was ill most of her life, and my father's faith was shaken because of her illness. This caused him to disassociate himself, and likewise us, from actively attending worship services. My period of inactivity lasted from my twelfth year until my sixteenth. During this time, I felt lost and confused. However, I had a loving Bishop, and caring youth leaders. They took the time to get to know me, and made me feel like a million bucks! As I made lasting friendships, through activities with other boys my age, my activity became more regular. I attended seminary classes, religious education coursed designed for high school aged youth. From all of this, I learned right from wrong, and how to behave as a functional, contributing member of society, through prayer, and faithful study of the the Holy Bible and The Book of Mormon. My mother passed away when I was eighteen. This was during the summer between my junior and senior year of high school. I slipped into a depression of sorts. However, the relationships that I had made within the church, were shining beacons of love and hope, that lead me through the devastation that had become my life. As a missionary to the wonderful people of Japan, I learned to love others, and serve them out of that same love. I know that God lives. He is our Heavenly Father. His gospel blesses families. He has revealed his gospel in every period of time since Adam. The Savior, Jesus Christ, taught this gospel, established His church, achieved the atonement, and rose from the grave, redeeming all, who will follow His example, from the pains of death and hell. Heavenly Father revealed the Gospel of Jesus Christ through His prophet, Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon contains the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that you can know the truth through the power of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I serve, today, as a ward missionary. I help the missionaries find and teach people who are searching for truth. I also participate in service projects like helping the members of my neighborhood clean up the yards of vacant homes, and gathering food and toiletries for local shelters and food banks. I volunteer at the local cannery, where we prepare and can fruits and meats that are used in humanitarian efforts throughout the world. I also serve and watch over the physical and spiritual needs of three families within my ward.
