Hi I'm Amanda

I was adopted. I died three times. I'm still here and I'm a mormon.

About Me

Hi. I'm Amanda. I have been through a lot of tests and trials, but with faith and prayer I'm still here and well. I'm going to be starting college soon, I just finished high school and looking forward to new life experiances. I started institute and it is a blast. I'm meeting new people and learning new things. I'm a very caring person, I try to serve those around me all the time. I'm also very outspoken, I share my opinions, and I stand by what I believe in. That's me in a nutshell. :]

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I've been raised a Mormon, but like most people, I started to fall down the wrong path. That was about my freshman year in high school. I was 14 years old and was on my death bed on November 17, 2007. How, you ask? Well my family and I were in a horrific car accident and my head was broken.... I had blunt force trama, which resulted in me being in a coma with a TBI (tramatic brain injury). When I arried at the hospital that night after being Life-Flighted, I had a 5% chance of living. They had lost me 3 times... I was still holding on though. I had a few members of the church who waited until 3am to give me a blessing. So I arried at about 7pm on a Saturday night and the next Monday, my chance of surviving went up to a 84%. But I wasn't out of it yet... I finally came out of the coma, kind of. I still didn't know what was going on, but a week after that I started to remember things. That was in December. I remember one weekend, on a Friday, I asked my dad for a blessing, with two other men from our ward at the time. At this point in time I still wasn't walking or really doing anything on my own yet. So they came on a Saturday, gave me the blessing, and the following Monday, when the nurses came into get me for Rehab, I told them I could do it myself, I lifted myself up and moved to the end of the bed and stood up. It was a blessing in my life that I had gotten the strength to do that was just amazing. I thank my Lord every day. I soon had my birthday, then Christmas was coming up and I was still in the hospital... But I got the ok to go home for the day with my family. That was another blessing. Then by December 29, 2007 I was out of the hospital. My whole stay was from Nov. 17- Dec. 29, The doctors were saying how it would be 6 months to a year before I got out, and I was only there for a month and a half. That is the reason I am a Mormon, because I count my many blessings and remember who gave them to me.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith by serving others with all my heart. Like I shared in my Why I'm A Mormon, the car accident, I didn't mention how much people served my family. How do you give back when so much was done for you? Well, the way I help give back is every chance I get, I serve someone. It really makes me humble myself and look at everyone's life and understand where they are coming from. It's really hard for me not to love someone, when you serve you can't help but love those you serve, and it's true. :]
