Hi I'm Brooks Anderson

I grew up in Logan, UT I enjoy learning chinese dialects, jogging in the rain, and building overpowered computers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Logan Utah, a college town up north. I enjoyed reading from a young age and decided to read as much as I could lay my hands on. I build computers, am A+ certified and Net+ trained, and by the end of my escursion here in Oakland, will be fluent in Chinese. I remember in my childhood we moved around a lot, at least 8 or 9 ten times in 13 years. Each time we moved, we went to a new place with entirely different people and different neighborhoods. I had the interesting experience of being able to grow up a grand variety of different people from different places. love the gospel and know that praying about the Book of Mormon will get you an answer and that that answer will be very satisfactory. In fact, I promise you it will because that's exactly what I did and it worked.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember in my childhood we moved around a lot, at least 8 or 9 ten times in 13 years. Each time we moved, we went to a new place with entirely different people and different neighborhoods from all walks of life. I had the interesting experience of being able to grow up a grand variety of different people from different places. I grew up as a member of the LDS church, but I never was entirely converted in the restored gospel during my childhood. My father was a bishop for a time, and he made sure that I went to all of the activities and stuff like that. We moved around alot, and moved to one of the quieter, wealthier areas, and I made friends with a few peopel there. One day, one of these friends and I were walking down the side of a river, and found something in the water. When we leaned in closer, he fell into the water and got soaking wet. I pulled him out of the water and helped him go home. When we knocked on the door, his mother answered and immediently started screaming at her kid for getting dirty. She sounded completely contemptful, and she grabbed the kid and shoved him inside without saying a word to me. Later that evening, I thought about what made my family different than the family of my friend. My parents never once treated anyone like that, and they would have to be pretty hard pressed to say anything bad about anyone. From that point on, I studied what made how we treated people different, and it made all the difference for me in my life.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission with a lotta of Cantonese and Taishanese people. For those of you who have never met with missionaries before, I just gotta say it's so easy just to ask them about how they feel about their mission. They love to talk about their personal experience with the gospel, so don't be shy! Just ask them. I am currently learning chinese in the Bay Area and serving other Asian people. I am excited to be able to serve the Lord in such a way, and to get to know the great people in this culture! It is our goal to bring to the chinese communities all the blessings the gospel of Jesus Christ can bring!

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Brooks Anderson
We don't need it. The members, once they understand that they must excersize their own testimony in order to make it stronger, will fill in that which money fills. Money doesn't help much in the way of your own personal salvation. You could put all the accumulated wealth together and it won't be enough to buy one loaf of bread in the economy of heaven. Money does not motivate anything, but true knowledge from on high will. Show more Show less
