Hi I'm Conner Rockwood

I was German for six months and am waiting to get my visa to Spain to teach and serve the people there, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I just graduated from high school and will be attending college in the fall. I played varsity football and volleyball this year. Our football team went 13-1 and our volleyball team got into the state tournament. I have sung in choir all four years of high school and I was in Colorado All-State Choir for the last two years. Some of my hobbies are to color inside the lines and play in the sand box with my friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is my Savior and my Redeemer. I know that through his love and humility for the rest of the children of God that he died for us so that we may return to our Heavenly Father again. If it wasn't for Christ and his sacrifice, we would have no hope in this life for we would be doomed for misery for all of eternity. I know that after His death and the death of His apostles, the priesthood left the earth and thus the church that Christ had made was gone. This is refered to as the apostacy. In order to restore His gospel on the earth, God needed a prophet. I know that in 1820, the Father and the Son came and visited with Joseph Smith at the tender age of 14. I know this not from logic, but because the Holy Ghost has manifested it to me that this event did infact occur. I know that the Prophet Joseph Smith did translate the Book of Mormon and I know that it is the most correct book on the earth. I know this because I took Moroni's challenge (Moroni 10:4) after reading the book and did pray in faith if the things that I had read were true. Again, the Holy Ghost did manifest to me that it was true. I am thankful that the Lord has restored His gospel and church upon this earth that I may enjoy the blessings and joy that I have experienced through following the commandments of the Lord given in the scriptures and through His modern prophets. I know that Thomas S. Monson was chosen by God to serve as His prophet that the church may never go astray. That's why i'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I serve in my church by participating in my church callings and currently preparing to serve a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Madrid, Spain.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Conner Rockwood
We believe we need a Savior because God knew that we would make mistakes however no unclean thing can dwell in the the kingdom of God, so without Jesus Christ's sacrifice, we could not dwell with God because we are unclean. However, Christ did suffer and die for us. Thus, the ability for us to be forgiven of our sins is true. We do this through repentance. Repentance in many connotations is negative but really it's a fantastic opportunity for us to repent because it allows us to have a remission of our sins. To repent we must first come to God in pray and confess our sin ask for forgiveness. We must also confess and ask for forgiveness from those that we have offended. After this, we must repair the damage that we have done if there is any. Then we must forsake the sin. When we truly repent, we commit to trying our best to never committing that sin ever again. So we must learn from our mistake and then forsake it. Finally, we continue to follow the commandments of God. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Conner Rockwood
The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Savior of the World. It does not compete with the Bible but rather complements the Bible as the word of God and serves as a second witness of the divinity of Christ and His gospel. Just as the Bible is an account of the house of Israel in the Old world, the Book of Mormon is an account of the people in the America's or the New world. Jesus Christ explained this when he said "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice"(John 10:16). The Book of Mormon is an account of majorly two groups of people: The Nephites and the Lamanites. The Nephites are the covenant people just as the Jews are in the Bible. The Book of Mormon is a compilation of accounts from different prophets throughout time. Very similar to the Bible. The prophet Ezekial prophesied the time when man could take the stick of Judah(the Bible) and the stick of Joseph(the Book of Mormon) and bring them together into one in our hands. (See Ezekial 37:15-17) I have read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover multiple times and I stand as a solemn witness that the Book of Mormon complements the Bible as the word of God and challenge all those that read it's pages to ask in prayer whether it is true. I have and the Holy Spirit has manifested to me the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Conner Rockwood
When Jesus Christ lived on the earth, he organized and established his church. He organized it with his Twelve Apostles and went on to work miracles and teach his gospel. Jesus Christ gave his Apostles the priesthood authority in order to preach, perform ordinances(such as baptism) and heal the sick and afflicted, in his name. After His death and resurrection, his Apostles were sent to continue the work which Christ started. However, because of the wickedness of the people, all of the apostles were killed and because of that, this priesthood authority was lost. Without this priesthood authority, the Church was unable to function like Christ established it. Ordinances were changed as well as plain and precious truths were lost. There were many good people that wanted to follow Jesus Christ, but they did not have the authority to perform ordinances or gain revelation for the church, thus they had to only work according to their own wisdom. Through the prophet Joseph Smith, God restored his church from what is was when it was established by Christ. Through Joseph Smith, the priesthood authority was restored. Joseph Smith translated The Book of Mormon by the power of God. This record of the ancient inhabitants of the American continent, contained the plain and precious truths that had been removed out of the Bible thus containing the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thus a complete restoration through a prophet of God. Show more Show less
