Hi I'm Chris.

I'm a father, a triathlete, a sailor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of two beautiful boys who I raise along side my wonderful wife. I am a United States Navy Submariner. In my free time I enjoy playing board games, training for triathlons, and watching movies with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon household; going to church every Sunday and participating in church activities during the week. I was faced with the same problems that kids do growing up and was grateful for the guidance that my faith had provided me. I often wondered about what I should be doing with my life, how I should act, and the kind of person I should become. I was blessed with people in my life to guide me through my adolescent years and was able to build a firm foundation that has helped my through my life. After I graduated high school, decided to serve a full time mission and was called to serve in Japan for 2 years. While I had grown up studying the gospel I did not really understand why I did the things I did, I just knew that they were the things that God had commanded and if I did them I would be happy. It was in Japan that I fully learned that I am nothing without the Savior, Jesus Christ. It is through his infinite love that I have been able to accomplish anything. I came to understand Gods plan of happiness and the things that I must do to obtain true happiness and avoid the grief and sorrow that is abundant in the world today. After my mission, I met my wonderful wife and was able to be married for all of time and eternity in Gods holy temple. I know that through the ceremonies performed in the temple that my family will be together even after we die. The gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me in my relationship with my wife and the example of Jesus Christ shows me how to raise my children and lead my family in righteousness. Some may say that my faith limits what I can do with all it's rules and commandments but God has blessed me time and time again as I have followed His word and have felt consequences when I fall short and do not do as He would have me do. I know that it is through the Saviors sacrifice and God's grace that I can become clean and pure, return to our Father in Heaven and live with my family for all eternity.

How I live my faith

Being active duty military I am unable to go to church with my family every week. However this does not stop me from studying the gospel and sharing the things that I learn with those I interact with each day. when I am not deployed I am able to go to church and teach a group of young men and young women. It truly is a blessing to study, hear their incites and see their growth in the gospel.

What is the First Vision?

Chris.
As a young boy, Joseph Smith was confused with the many different churches, all of which claimed that their church was the only true church. While studying the scriptures he learned "If any of you lack wisdom, let him as of god" James 15. So in the spring of 1820, the boy Joesph went into a grove of trees and prayed to know which church to join. He got a miraculous answer, our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ appeared to Joesph and told Joseph that he should join none of the churches that were on the earth. This event marked the beginning of the restoration of Jesus Christ's church to the earth in these later days. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Chris.
The priesthood is the authority to act is God's name. God has restored the same priesthood authority that Christ gave to his Apostles in the New Testament to the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. All worthy men can receive the priesthood, which can then be used to do Gods will on earth. It is through this holy power that families can be sealed together for time and all eternity, the sick can be healed, saving ordinances, such as baptism, can be performed, among many other things. Those who hold the priesthood are required to use it in service to others and should always follow the example of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
