Hi I'm Kristi

I'm an elementary school teacher in Northern Utah, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born and raised in beautiful Cache Valley Utah. I have amazing parents, as well as 5 younger brothers who are always up for an adventure and keep life exciting! I enjoy hiking, playing the piano, reading, cooking, crafting, playing games, and traveling. I studied Elementary and Early Childhood Education at USU and graduated in 2009. I have had many wonderful experiences in my field including teaching piano lessons, working at a preschool, substituting in local schools, teaching English in Taiwan, and working in my current position as a Kindergarten teacher. I absolutely love working with young children! They are incredible examples of Christ-like love and kindness, and I am grateful for the enthusiasm and joy they bring into my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a family who believes in and follows Jesus Christ. My parents have been members of the Mormon church all their lives, and learned from their parents' examples how to live righteously and create a happy home. We prayed together, read the scriptures together, and spent quality time together. My parents taught me and my brothers the principles of the gospel and gave us opportunities to develop our own faith by making choices. They helped me to recognize the peace and happiness that comes from living a life centered around Christ. I remember reading the Book of Mormon as a child and feeling of its truth in my heart. As a teenager trying to find my place in the world I often struggled with my self esteem. I will never forget my sincere prayer to Heavenly Father, asking Him if He was really there and if He loved me. I was overcome with a powerful feeling of God's love and peace as I prayed. I have felt the gospel truths reaffirmed in my heart and mind throughout my life. I know that Jesus Christ lives! He is our Savior who was born to live as a perfect example for us. I know that through the Atonement we can repent, be perfected, and return to God's presence again. My knowledge that I am a daughter of God gives my life meaning and purpose. I am a Mormon because the Spirit has confirmed to me that this is Jesus Christ's true church on the earth today, and I have learned from my own experiences that true happiness comes from following His teachings.

How I live my faith

I live in a community made up predominately of Mormons, so there are many opportunities for me to get involved with my ward and stake members. In addition to our regular Sunday meetings, I enjoy attending weeknight group activities. It's great to make new friends and spend time with other young single adults! Visiting Teaching is another way I get to know others. I have a teaching partner and we are assigned to two other girls in our ward. It is our responsibility to get to know them through visits and service, and to look out for their spiritual and temporal needs. I love the friendships that have come through this calling! I also participate in institute classes on the college campus where we meet to study the scriptures, discuss teachings and applications, and to testify of Christ. One of my favorite ways to strengthen my faith and feel God's love is by going to the temple to serve and to ponder. Outside of my church meetings, activities and assignments I try to do my best to be a disciple of the Savior Jesus Christ. I strive to think and act as He would by keeping the commandments and serving others. At work and in other social situations I live by the church standards and am open about my beliefs and faith. I pray to our Heavenly Father each morning and night, and study the scriptures.
