Hi I'm Emily

I'm a wife, a mother, a cook, a blogger, and a Mormon.

About Me

I love my husband, daughter, and cooking. In that order. I have a love for all things food and spend any free time I have in the kitchen trying out new recipes. I have a degree in Public Health, I'm a stay-at-home mom, and I keep a blog of our life adventures together.

Why I am a Mormon

My faith helps me look on the bright side of things in an ever-darkening, confusing world. I feel a lot of strength and security in the values and morals taught by our Savior and modern-day prophets. Knowing there is a prophet on the earth today helps me feel that the Heavens are still opened and that the Lord is still taking an active role in our lives. I love that the primary focus is on our Savior, who sacrificed himself for us so that we can return to live with our Father in Heaven again. Secondly, I believe that strong, faithful families make all the difference.

How I live my faith

I teach a class for the women in our congregation once a month on basic gospel principles (from faith in the Savior, to prayer, to missionary work). I also like to participate in the meetings the women in our congregation have once a month, where we do activities together. Sometimes we have a mini-class on how to do something (like make ice cream, or store extra food in case of an emergency), other times we do service projects together (like assembling hygiene kits for victims of natural disasters), and sometimes we just do something fun (like hold a group birthday party, or work on a craft). I feel a real sense of community among these women and like to be as involved as I can be.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Absolutely. I believe that God loves His people just as much today as He did in scriptural times, and that He is just as involved in our lives today. One way He does this is through prophets. Having a prophet on the earth today to gives us the guidance and counsel we need today. Show more Show less
