Hi I'm Dan

I was born in the Czech Republic. I now live in Canada and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was living in the Czech Republic until I was 34. I am originally a millwright machinist. After two years in the Czech army I started driving truck. In 1982, I left because of government oppression. I came to my new homeland here in Canada with my wife and three kids.

Why I am a Mormon

After some years my wife decided to leave me and the kids for another man. I ended up raising the kids by myself. Raising kids is not very easy on the mind or the pocket. I was really tired. I would come home and crash because life was hard. When I was thinking about myself and my life and wondering what would go wrong next I had people placed in my path that seemed to know exactly what I was thinking about. This happened on a regular basis and I started expecting it to happen. This was very eye opening for me because nothing like this had ever happened to me. It seemed that I had been waiting for something like this or a miracle for my whole life. I started believing that there was someone, God, who wanted to tell me something. I started praying by myself and started searching for a church. I started watching and listening to religious programs on the TV and radio. I even attended many different church meetings. I started feeling very comfortable when I started attending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It wasn't just the doctrine that impressed me but also the organization of the church. I had finally found the right church. I knew this because I had been praying for it. I looked for things wrong with the church but I couldn't find anything and my feelings confirmed it was the right church.

How I live my faith

My first step to living the gospel was learning to forgive. I think forgiveness is something that everyone must experience and develop. Without forgiveness nothing works. I try to be a good example of this and the gospel. I love sharing my experiences and inviting others to learn more. I also try to attend church activities. I serve in the church as a clerk. Here I deal with the donations and financial aspects of the local church.
