Hi I'm Amanda

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single parent of two lively little ladies. Besides spending time with them, I enjoy cake decorating and other artsy crafts. I enjoy products and hobbies that are environmentally gentle and healthy for my family. Reading makes me happy and I hope to write a novel some day. I am recently attempting to turn my black thumb into a green one. We have a garden and several house plants that are still doing well! I enjoy going to activities with the single adults in my area as well as spending time with my friends who have families. I enjoy watching my children grow in their knowledge of the gospel as well as at school. They are such a blessing to me! I work at a local High School as a teacher's aide in the SPED department. I enjoy learning from them as well as teaching them. My new project is learning to crochet. I am moving on from potholders and dishrags, to hats!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the church and continue to stay strong to this day, though I have had many opportunities to take other paths. I was raised by righteous parents in a big family. We always had the influence of the gospel in our home. When I was eight, I was baptized. It felt good and I knew I was making the right choice. Shortly after baptism, I was influenced by several teachers to pray to know for myself if the church was true. I prayed fervently for several days and went to my mother in tears. I told her that I was sad that I didn't recieve an answer, though I knew the church was true. My mother told me that that was my answer. She said that all those small warm feelings throughout my life from the Holy Ghost compiled together to make my testimony unshakable, one small moment at a time. Each time I feel the Spirit, each time I read the scriptures, each time I pray, My Father in Heaven is teaching me like pieces to a puzzle to add to my testimony. That is why I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today.

How I live my faith

I am the librarian and choir director at church. I wasn't expecting the call to do either one. Being the librarian is rewarding because I get to help people. The kids always stop in to say hello (and grab a peice of candy) as do my many other friends. I love to help people find things and make copies. Being the choir director has it's challenges, but I have some musical background. I used to play the trombone in High School, so I can read music and have a good ear. I also taught the children to sing songs at church before this, too. Our church building holds a lot of musical talent. I feel blessed to be able to share the loving spirit of the Savoir through service and music to others.
