Hi I'm Jarhed Peña

I just got married in the beautiful Logan Utah Temple. I grew up in the Philippines and, yes, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have goodly parents. I grew up in the Philippines and was raised in the LDS church. I love the good people in my life who have influenced and encouraged me to be better. I have three relatively close friends who do not share the same religious beliefs as I do and I love and treasure them dearly. My best friend once told me that I live to eat and, oddly enough, I think he's right!

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to be a Mormon because I have come to know for myself that the Book of Mormon is a volume of scripture that was translated by Joseph Smith. I have read it all the way through for more than 10 times now and I still come back to reading it over and over again. As I reflect on the history of the people contained in it, I feel a deeper sense of closeness to God, just as much as I do when I read the Bible. I love the way it teaches about families and how we can have our own individual relationship with our Father in Heaven. It teaches how Jesus Christ can be a living entity influencing our lives, not just someone who had paid the price for our sins many hundreds of years ago. Reading the Bible and the Book of Mormon and then feeling close to God is like having a breath of fresh air as I live each day in a world full of people with varying opinions concerning Deity and our own divinity. I’m sure if we truly and with all honesty and sincerity of heart search the scriptures and see how He has blessed us individually, we will know that He lives.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by emulating Jesus Christ’s example and the way He lived His life as recorded in the Bible. I know that I make mistakes along the way, but I do my best to repent and follow Him. I also search the scriptures daily in order to gain an understanding of how I should live my life. There is so much more into following Him than just simply being kind and loving to others: He fasted and prayed, He read the scriptures, He went about doing good, He taught the people a law greater than the Law of Moses, He went to the synagogue, etc. I experience a change in my heart, my desires change, my thought-pattern changes, and my capacity to love deepens as I do so. Life in turn has a better meaning.

What is being a Mormon like?

Jarhed Peña
Being a Mormon is great! It is setting yourself apart from the norm i.e. the crudeness, vulgarity, etc. in to a higher plane of thought and action. Doing so heightens my spiritual sensitivity and the entire notion of being filled with the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost makes a lot more sense. The standards The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have helped me obtain a more profound respect and reverence to God. He becomes more personal and real to me. Show more Show less
