Hi I'm Kiersten.

I grew up singing Dutch songs, attending a Cambodian LDS Congregation, and dancing with Maori poi balls. I am a Latter Day Saint.

About Me

I am a woman of many diaries/journals and few secrets - married to salsa partner Brian, and mother to three little-bodied, big-soul boys. I would choose a day digging a water well in the Sudan over a leisurely trip to Greece any day. Although, afterward - I'd go to Greece. And get a massage. But I'd want the entire Sudanese village to come with me. What do I do? I mother. I write - www.penrecordslight.com I volunteer - fantastic teenage young women - www.youth.lds.org. I dance. African, Improv, Modern are some favorites. Possible addictions? OK, long to do these more often reading, paragliding and sleep. Did you live in Paris? Yes and now back in the USA. Before that? Mid-West/Western United States, South America, England. Milk or Dark Chocolate? Dark - very dark.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in Jesus Christ. I know He is my Savior. I believe He is more than just a man or a prophet. I have experienced, and continue to be lifted by His love, his mercy and healing. I am a Latter day Saint because I believe this is the same Gospel and Church organization that Jesus Christ shared and established when He was on the earth. We see Jesus Christ's work in Jerusalem-evidenced in the Bible, and we see His work in the America's-in the Book of Mormon. Truth learned from these volumes of scriptures and from Latter Day prophets bring me peace- We exist so we might have joy. We all have agency - we are agents unto ourselves, we are free to choose our habits and attitudes. We all lived with Heavenly Father and Mother prior to coming to Earth and with this agency/freedom to choose that they gave us, we all chose to accept Their 'Plan of Happiness' - the opportunity to become more like Them - mortality. We all - no matter our choices - will live after death, we all will be resurrected. We all have the opportunity - dependent on our choices - to live with our Heavenly Parents, and earthly families, again! I delight in the literal rescue the Savior and my Heavenly Father have given me - and I delight to see others acknowledge Their love and learn to trust Them too. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is freedom.

How I live my faith

I have chosen to be married. I have chosen to bear and nurture children. I choose to honor these relationships with fidelity and devotion. I choose to accept opportunities to volunteer time/serve whatever the personal circumstance/location of our lives. It's a wonderful thing - no matter where you live in the world - you can find a Latter Day Saint congregation -- "ward family." A reason for this immediate connection to others despite being new in a neighborhood - we serve in our communities together, we serve one another. I love to study how Jesus Christ lived and died. His paradigm and choices guide mine. These choices I make give me joy and peace.
