Hi I'm vicki

I'm a Mormon. I was born in England and was raised all over the United States as an Army brat.

About Me

I grew up all over at Army bases, Germany, Kansas, New Jersey, Washington and attended protestant services. I took buses most of the time and realized my family didn't want more questioned answered. I was looking for more. While I was in college, I was bar hopping on Friday and Saturday nights and church hopping on Sundays. It was rough for a while, I was on my way to becoming an alcoholic. My hobbies now are my friends and family, quilting and reading.

Why I am a Mormon

The churches I attended as a youth didn't answer all my questions. How can God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost be one person. I knew they were three separate beings with one purpose, but not one person. While I was church hopping, one of my friends got invited to the Mormon church and we went together. Oh my gosh! It answered all the questions I had: There were three different personages in the Godhead with three different missions but one overall mission: To tell and witness the truth about God the Father and his son, Jesus the Christ. It was so much information to learn and through prayer I have found peace and happiness. During my membership I have been blessed with prayer ... knowing that Heavenly Father answers and listens to me. Through prayer I have been healed and gain peace when I am troubled. I still have problems, but through what I have learned, I can give those problems to Heavenly Father and with his help I gain help.

How I live my faith

I help with the Singles program. I am over 30 now and we meet locally and regionally. We have "our singles family" which is so much fun. We have brothers and sisters that we can laugh with, share funny stories with, cry with, learn with but most of all, love each other and share the gospel with. I also help with the Scouting organization. I love to help the boys turn into men. They are so awesome when they learn how to tie a knot or how much of nature our Heavenly Father has given us. Just watching a sunrise or sunset I know that there is a living God today that hears and answers my prayers and am so thankful He knows me.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

I dress for church in my Sunday best, which is a modest dress, that is clean and pressed. What holidays do I celebrate Easter, for the resurrection of Christ and His birthday, Christmas. But I also have fun with local holidays July 4th, Labor Day and probably one my favorites, Thanksgiving. We have huge family dinners. I worked in retail for so many years and never got Christmas off, so I made a big deal of Thanksgiving, which I did get off. We also have big family get togethers for birthdays and all of our national holidays. Show more Show less
