Hi I'm Cale

I grew up in Knoxville, Tn. I play professional baseabll, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I went to school at the University of Alabama to play baseball. After my freshman year, I served a mission for the church in Lisbon, Portugal. It was one of the greatest experiences in my life. I was drafted and when I got home, I immediately began playing baseball with the Detroit Tigers organization and continue to play with them. I met my wife at Alabama and we have been married for two years now and have a beautiful baby girl that is a true gift from our Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Mormon family and am blessed with a mom and dad who made the gospel of Jesus Christ a priority in our home. From a young age I knew that the church was true. It felt right to be in our home reading the scriptures together and saying our prayers. I can recall the great feelings of peace and gratitude hearing the story of our Savior and all He did for us. I felt the same feelings when hearing the story of the boy prophet Josesph Smith. Serving my mission in Portugal only strengthened these feelings as I saw amazing people hear the message of the restoration, then faithfully pray to know for themselves if the message was true. It was always special to hear them say that they knew through the power of the Holy Ghost that they knew it was true. Now that I have a family of my own, I see how the gospel helps and strengthens us. My marriage has been filled with happiness and I know it is because my wife and I are devoted to serving our Father in Heaven. The gospel answers our questions and fills us with hope. The book of Mormon is truely the word of God and was written for our day. Its words give us peace in a world of turmoil. I am very blessed to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and hope others can feel what I have felt my whole life.

How I live my faith

Playing baseball makes it difficult to attend church every Sunday for six months of the year. However, I make it a point to make the Sabbath day differnet from the others even when I am at the field. I take extra time to find a quiet place and read the scriptures or listen to the words of the modern day prophets and apostals. During the baseabll season my wife often times shares with me what was talked about in church and shares with me her feelings and things she learned and the things that were impressed upon her. My wife is a big help in bringing the spirit into our home. She is a great example to me and watching her take our little girl to church always puts a smile on my face. Life is filled with choices and I have learned that there is great joy in choosing to model my life after the savior Jesus Christ.
