Hi I'm Nathan

I was born in Canada, grew up in New Zealand, live in Australia and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I was young my family moved from Canada to New Zealand. I grew up in the country with my two brothers and two sisters. We had a good upbringing in a loving family however since we lived in the country I had to leave home to attend High School and later University. After I finished High School I travelled to Australia to save money for my mission and ended up working in the mines in the outback of the Northern Territory. Once I had the money I needed for my mission I returned to New Zealand and was called to serve in the Philippines which I loved. After my mission I went to University and also returned to Canada for a year. I met my wife when she came from Australia to New Zealand on a holiday. We were married in the Syndey Temple twenty three years ago and have six children, the oldest two are now serving missions. I work as a Human Resources Manager in Melbourne, play golf, surf and go on camping adventures with the family but spend most of my time driving my children to their sports games, work and friends places.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church in Canada soon after they were married. They weren't going to have children and were going to live in the cabin in the back blocks of Canada. They had already bought the cabin and were in the process of fixing it up when the Missionaries found them in Ottawa and they joined the church. Once they learned the importance of families they knew they needed to make a lifestyle change. They sold the cabin and had five children so you could say I am a direct result of the church. Although I was raised in the church I gained my own testimony as I was taught by my parents the principles of the gospel in the home. We lived a long way from the nearest branch of the church and often couldn't go since my Dad worked shift work and my mother didn't drive. My mission to the Philippines cememted my testimony as I came into contact with many different beliefs and traditions. I could see just how true the doctrines of the church are and because I was studying the Book of Mormon each day I came to have a very strong testimony of the truthfulness of that book.

How I live my faith

I have served in the church in a variety of positions and some of these positions have been leadership positions. Although these positions have taken up alot of my time I am happy to serve because I have been very blessed in my life and helping others is the least I can do to say thank you to my Heavenly Father. Because of my testimony of the gospel I know the most important position I have had and will ever have is that of a husband and father. Every day I try to be a better person to my wife and children and love doing so.
