Hi I'm Michael D. Griffin

I live in Idaho Falls, Idaho and work with radioactive waste. I'm married to Jeni, we have three children, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a small rural community where early on I learned the value of hard work. If you wanted money, you had to earn it. I'm greatful for the opportunities I had as a kid working for various farmers in the area to earn money. That experience gave me a strong foundation I would later need in life. I took the long way through college, it took me 8 years to earn my B.S. degree in Physics/Biology. I learned a lot about persistance, sacrifice, and enduring during that time. Earning my degree has paid off in so many ways. It took me and my family to new cities to live and work and meet new people. Some of these people have remained friends for life. It also gave me opportunities to share the gospel with others. The things I like to do are ride bicylces, hunt birds with my dog Cookie, hold hands with my wife while walking on the beach, and share a quiet relaxing moment in my yard looking at my garden, flowers, and trees. I'm a nature lover with the belief that a higher power created this wonderful world we live in. I love to laugh. I enjoy good food, a good movie, a good book, and spending time with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my family dearly. I have a daughter and two sons. A few years ago, my family experienced the heartache of losing one of our sons to suicide. This event has made my family stronger as we turned to the Lord for help. I have a deep love and testimony of my Savior because he has answered my prayers and I've felt his hand on my shoulder in times of despair. I know my Savior personally and I know he loves me. I know that God has a plan for me.

How I live my faith

I have been serving the last four years as a member of the High Council in a young married stake in a college community several miles from my home. I have thoroughly enjoyed this calling and serving the young married couples. I have learned so much from them. They are so smart. When you walk into the room with them you can feel of their Spirit. Over the years I have met so many wonderful people that I would not have met were it not for my calling. I love teaching, whether it's Gospel Doctrine, Marriage and Family Relations, Elder's Quorum lessons, or speaking in Sacrament meeting on High Council Sunday. I love exchanging stories about the gospel and learning from others. I try to be a good example at my work and let others know I'm a Mormon.
