Hi I'm Kevin

I'm a pre-med student, and I am majoring in mathematics. I love weightlifting and football. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student. I am majoring in mathematics, but hope to apply to medical school near the end of my junior year. I had fairly diverse interests in high school. I sang in choir, played on the football team, and loved to read in my spare time. While spare time is a little harder to find in college, I still enjoy reading and weightlifting when I can. Starting in December 2011, I will be serving a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints. I will be serving in Cleveland Ohio. I am going on a mission because I love this gospel and want to share with others the great blessing it can bring into their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church, but that is NOT why I am a Mormon. Yes, I went to church as a child because I was told that was the right thing to do. After all, my parents did. But as I have gotten older, I have come to know for myself the joy that comes from following Jesus Christ. I am so glad that I can have Him as a source of comfort when I sorrow, a source of learning when I hunger, and as a source of correction when I make a mistake. I am a Mormon because I have prayed to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true, and my Heavenly Father has let me know that it is by His Spirit. I am in college now, and no one compels me to go to church. I go because I see the blessings of it in my life daily, and I know for myself that it is the right thing to do.

How I live my faith

I am first and foremost a thinker. Growing up I always had my little philosophies on how the universe worked, and I tried to learn as much about science as I could. In elementary school I started to get interested in how the human body worked. I would check out books on the respiratory system and I loved to read about how they worked. My desire to become a doctor started early on, and now I'm in college studying as a pre-medical student. I want to help people in my profession. That may sound like a cliche reason for becoming a doctor, but my real goal is to do research. I want to find ways to make medicine more effective and more available. I consider my chances for an education as a gift, and I want to give back in return. I know the Lord will help me find ways to serve his children in my eventual career. He also helps me serve those around me now. I try to do this by participating in local fundraisers, and by being an active citizen and freindly neighbor. Most of all, I believe in living a morally clean life, so that my family, friends, and peers can rely on me to be of stalwart character.
