Hi I'm Joseph Thaden

I grew up in the Air Force. I have strong family roots. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Joseph, and I love to get out and be involved with something! I enjoy exercising, serving, and being with people. My goals are to graduate from BYU with a degree in engineering, serve in the Air Force, and raise a beautiful family that will one day be with our Father in Heaven. I picked up swimming and skateboarding while in high school. One thing I love is reaching goals! When you get the nerve to drop in a high ramp or bowl on a skateboard, or when you cut 5 seconds off your time, you feel this accomplishment that you can achieve something. A goal of mine is to live in heaven with my Heavenly Father and entire family. Feeling that accomplishment will be worth any sacrifice in this life. I served a mission in Ohio where we bring as many people as will "come and see" closer to their Savior, Jesus Christ. I found that service brings me closer to my Savior. I love seeing what this Gospel will do for people if they are willing to invest time. I promise you that by seeking our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ through prayer and keeping His commandments, you will feel peace in this life and know what is required to gain eternal life with those we love.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know it is truly Christ's Church with my mind and heart. I have found for myself that the teachings and doctrines of this Church are true! If we are to know if something is true or good, we need to experiment upon it! I was praying for many days and very fervently to know if Joseph Smith was truly a prophet called by God. The scriptures tell us to ask God if we lack wisdom. As I was reciting Joseph Smith's vision and testimony, I felt a "concentrated fireball" over my heart. That is the best way I can describe what I felt. I knew that God had answered my prayer that very day. Because Joseph Smith is a prophet, that means the Book of Mormon is true because he translated it by God's power. Because the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith are true, this Church is true, and that is why I am a member of His Church. We may not have sudden experiences that tell us if something is true. Rather, many times, we will have small evidences or assurances that something is right. Pay attention to the little things, words from someone, a difference in how you feel towards something, and so on. These little assurances each day keep my testimony bright and that what I stand for and belong to truly is of Christ, that it is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith each day by saying a prayer in the morning, thanking Heavenly Father for a new day, by reading my scriptures daily to receive revelation for my life, by being obedient to the commandments to show my love for God, by doing all I can to move His kingdom forward. One big way I have lived my faith is devoting 2 years of my life to invite Heavenly Father's children to come unto Christ. We live our faith both as missionaries and as members in being righteous examples to those around us, looking for opportunities to serve, loving everyone we meet, striving to build our own personal lives on the foundation of Christ, and helping others do the same. By having faith, or trust, in God, by repenting of our sins and avoiding them, by being baptized by a worthy man holding God's authority, by receiving the supernal gift of the Holy Ghost, and by enduring to the end which means keeping the commandments until we leave this life, we live our faith.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Joseph Thaden
Yes! That is God's plan! He wants us to return to live with him for eternity as families! What a wonderful plan! God has organized a plan called the Plan of Salvation or the Plan of Happiness. This plan is possible to accomplish with our families because Heavenly Father has provided us a way to do so. God has ordained marriage between a man and a woman. He has intended for these family relationships to last beyond the grave and likewise has provided a way. The Priesthood, or God's authority, has been restored or brought back to the earth. Within temples, the Priesthood seals our husbands, wives, and families together for all eternity. What we're expected to do is honor the commandments, observing them each day of our life, and repenting if we do something wrong. What a marvelous plan from our Heavenly Father! Because He loves us so much, we can live together as families for time and all eternity! Show more Show less
