Hi I'm Zach

I'm a film-maker; I love music, movies, and video games; and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently serving a mission for the LDS Church in the Indiana, Indianapolis Mission. This means that for two years I will travel around the state of Indiana sharing what I know to be true. Before my mission I enjoyed making movies. I took several film making classes and really enjoyed them. After I return home I plan to pursue a career in film making. I love to spend time with friends, but even more so I enjoy being with my family. I am the youngest of six kids, and for a large part of my life I was the only one living at home. So one of my favorite things is when we get the whole family back together again. As I've gotten older and done a lot of thinking for myself, I've realized the importance of religion in my life, and I've committed myself to living a gospel centered life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon Church, and for most of my childhood I only attended because my parents did so as well. But there came a time in my life that I had to know for myself that the Mormon Church is true. This time came soon before I decided to serve a mission. I knew that it would be a big commitment to serve for 2 years, so I had to know it was right before I would do it. My testimony came as I prayed to my Heavenly Father to know. I simply asked Him if what I had been taught my whole life was true, and if I should serve a mission. The answer didn't come all at once, but it did come. As I continued to live the way Christ wanted me to, and continue to pray to know truth, the Holy Ghost confirmed to me, through my thoughts and feelings, that I was doing the right thing. I have no doubt that the feelings I have felt came from God. I know what He wants me to do, and its because I've listened to the promptings and feelings of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

Right now I serve as missionary for the church. I've committed every day of my life, for 2 years, to spreading the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so honored that I can be considered a representative of Jesus Christ, and that I've been given the authority to teach others about Him. I also feel its important, even aside from being a missionary, to always be a good example. I know that the things I do in this life can make a difference in the world, and I want that to be a good thing, so I always strive to live a Christ-like life.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No, It is not a requirement for Mormons to serve a mission, but it encouraged, both by church leadership and by our families. I chose to serve a mission, not because my family wanted me to, but because I wanted to. I've come to know for myself that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that His church is restored to the earth. I chose to serve a mission so that I could share my testimony of these things. Being a member of Jesus Christ's church has brought me so much joy, and I want to share that joy with anyone that I can. How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

As a missionary for the church, this is what I do. My purpose is to talk with people about what we believe, and how you can come closer to Jesus Christ. There are missionaries just like me all over the world. If you are interested in talking with a missionary you can call 1-888-537-6600 or go to the "Missionary Request" section of this site. Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written by many prophets that lived on the American continent. These men were called of God just as Moses, Noah, or Isaiah. Prophets such as Nephi, Mosiah, and Alma kept records of their dealings with God, and eventually another Prophet named Mormon took all of these records and abridged them, combining them into what we now know as the book of Mormon. He then delivered the record to his son Moroni, who added his testimony and buried the record where it would be safe until God was prepared to bring it forth to the world. That time came when Christ called Joseph Smith the be a new prophet who would restore Christ's church to the earth once again. The Book of Mormon serves as evidence that Joseph Smith was called of God and that Christ's church has been restored. This book has strengthened my faith in Christ immensely. I know it is true because I've asked God and through the power of the Holy Ghost He has shown to me that it is true. Because I know it is true, I know that Christ still leads His church through a prophet in this day. Moroni left a challenge at the end of the Book of Mormon (Moroni 10:3-5) which is to read it and ask God if it is true, having faith, a sincere heart, and real intent. I know that anyone that takes this challenge and reads the Book of Mormon with a sincere heart will come to know that it is true. Knowing this could change your life. Show more Show less
