Hi I'm Hugo

I am from Los Angeles, California. I have been a member my whole life. I'm currently serving in the Texas San Antonio Mission.

About Me

My parents are converts to the Church so I was born into the Church. I am currently serving in the Texas San Antonio Mission from 2011-2013. I like sports (basketball, soccer, baseball, etc.). I am a college graduate with a Mathematics B.A. I enjoy reading both the Bible and The Book of Mormon, but in particular the New Testament. I enjoy learning new things, especially when it comes to learning about Christ and His life.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born into the Church, my "conversion" didn't happen until I read The Book of Mormon for myself. When I was 17, I made it a goal of mine to really read, ask, and pray about The Book of Mormon. As I read it, I saw positive changes happening in my life. I saw a greater happiness enter into my life that I had never felt before. I saw that as I continued to live the principles that were taught in The Book of Mormon and prayed, God began to bless my life in greater abundance. I began to know that God is my loving Heavenly Father and that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I have come to know that Christ came to atone for our sins so that we could repent and one day return to live with our Heavenly Father. I know that God loves us and that He listens to and answers us whenever we pray. I know that these same blessings and many more can and will be fulfilled in the lives of those who read The Book of Mormon, pray to ask if it is true, and follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by wanting to share it with others. Before my mission, I helped in various organizations in the Church. I helped teach Sunday School, Seminary (early morning Scripture classes), and was called to be a Ward Missionary (reviewing with new members the basic principles about the Gospel). As I prepared and studied for those lessons, I came to have a greater knowledge of who Jesus Christ is and how I could apply His teachings into my life. I was also the ward Pianist. It gave me great joy to know that I was helping others invite and feel the Spirit through music. Now that I am a Missionary, I am grateful for the opportunity that I have to share this Gospel with everyone. I know that the Gospel can help those that are seeking for truth to come closer to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
