Hi I'm Patty

I am a happy wife, mom, and grandma all because I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been happily married for 35 years and am a mother of 3 grown chldren. Even though I am considered an "empty nester" my "nest" is far from empty. I care for my sweet mom who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. It is my full-time job for now and I wouldn't have it any other way. I have learned so much about love and life by being her caregiver. Caring for my mother has taught me more about God and His love for us than anything I have ever expereinced. When I was 12 years old, it was my mother who answered the door to two young missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She knew her daughters needed religion so, after getting the approval of our father, she invited them to teach us the gospel. And even though she doesn't know I'm her daughter anymore, I will always know she's my mother and will ever be grateful to her for all she has done for me.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a little girl, I knew that my maternal grandparents were of native american descent. I attended other churches where I learned about Jesus Christ and how he had come to earth. But it concerneced me deeply that He had only visited Jerusalem. I wondered why He had not visited my ancestors in America. One day while my mother was home alone vacuuming the living room floor, she heard a voice speak to her saying, "Irene, your daughters need religion". She turned of the vacuum and searched the house but could find no one. The same thing occurred two more times. The next day she heard a knock at the front door. When she answered, she found two young men from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They told her that they had a message about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and wondered if she would be interested in having them teach her about it. She said "Well, I've been thinking that my daughters need religion" After checking with my dad for permission, the missionaries began to teach our family. Oh My!!! How thrilled I was when the missionaries taught us about the Book of Mormon and said that Jesus had visited America to teach His sons and daughters on this continent From that exciting revelation, my family and I began the most wonderful journey beginning with my baptism at the age of 12 and feeling the witness of the Spirit as He testified of the truthfulness of the gospel at every stage of my life. I always loved to hear the stories of Jesus in the Bible so when I read the Book of Mormon, it only added to my love for Him.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is a lifestyle for me. It encompasses saying my personal prayers at least twice a day, daily reading of the scriptures, and serving my family. I desire to do the things that would cause my Heavenly Father to be pleased with me. I am very active in my church activities, helping wherever I can. I had the privilege of teaching scripture based religion classes to high school students every weekday morning for 7 years. This was such a huge blessing to me; in that I was able to gain a solid base for understanding the scriptures. I have served in many areas of church service throughout my life. I strive to follow the teachings of my religion by living a clean life and trying to find ways to serve my neighbors. My home is a very peaceful place in consequence of following the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
