Hi I'm Steve

I'm a typical Aussie battler and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been happily married for 12 years. My wife and I have 5 beautiful children, who we adore. I grew up in Adelaide's northern suburbs, and after moving around Australia with my job, I have settled back in Adelaide. I enjoy singing, playing guitar, and watching Aussie rules footy. I have a passion for classic Australian cars. I love to spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a mormon family, my Mother being a member of the church, and my Father converting to the church soon after I was born. I was raised as a mormon, while being given the choice of remaining in the church or not. I studied the Book of Mormon, Bible, and other scripture, then prayed to know if the church was true. I needed to know for myself if what I had been taught was true. God answered my prayer, as he has continued to do, confirming to me that this church contains the full truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been very blessed with living a very happy life. I have had many opportunies to help those in need through my membership in the church. Through helping others, the difficulties in my life become less difficult. Through the sacrafice of the Savior Jesus Christ, the mistakes I make can be forgiven and the burdens of life are made light. The Hope that this gives me, is one of the many reasons I have chosen to continue follwing the teachings of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I love to help people in need and the church has allowed me many opportunities to do this. I have been involved in cleaning up parks and assisting others in the local community. I have served in many different areas of the church, including working with youth, serving a mission in Japan, leadership roles, and administrative roles. I have enjoyed serving as a Home Teacher for 20 years. Home Teaching is a great program that the church has in place to help one another by showing love, teaching gospel based lessons, providing acts of kindness and assistance, and many other helpful things. My family and I enjoy Family night every Monday night, where we discuss a gospel topic which can help our family to grow closer together, which is then followed by a fun activity. Through my study of the Gospel and attending meetings with other men in the church, I am learning how to be a better husband and Father.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Steve
The church does not endorese political parties. We are encouraged to learn more about political party policies, their representatives, and their plans. When we understand what political options there are, we are encouraged to vote according to which representatives and parties best meet our needs and whose values best align with our own values. Many Mormons are active in various political parties, and some Mormons have served and are currently serving their country as elected representatives in Senates, State and Federal Governments, and Local Governments around the world. Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Steve
While we have a lot of contact with other Mormons, which allows us opportunity to help each other, we also help others frequently. Because we believe that God is our Father in Heaven, this means that all people in the world are our brothers and sisters. Family will always help Family. Further to this, Jesus Christ taught in the Bible, that we should love one another, love our neighbour, and even to pray for our enemies. The church has a wonderful welfare system, which is available to anyone who is in need. I have seen many people in the community blessed by church welfare assistance and mormons providing service to those in need. We also participate in a regular community progam called the Mormon Helping Hands, where we provide some form of community assistance, such as cleaning up parks, helping community assitance groups, planting trees, and many other great services.  Show more Show less
