Hi I'm Samuel Major

"Nerd" is my middle name. I like to think I'm part Hawaiian. Mormonism is my true source of happiness!

About Me

I just barely returned from serving in Hawaii as a missionary. There I learned to love the Polynesian culture and their immense charity for everyone. I found that to be the central feature of the gospel. I now study psychology in college and am hoping to be a therapist to help families. In my free time I love anything to do with the Fine Arts. I sing, dance, act, and play the drums. I also love to play video games and have swimming parties with my friends and family. I also love to read sci-fi and fantasy novels, and watching movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but it never became personal to me until that habit of turning to the gospel became the only thing I had during great adversity in my life and family. I continually asked myself why these things were happening. I struggled for months to stay happy, and to even find peace with my family and friends. Eventually, I turned to the good habits of prayer and study of the Book of Mormon and I found the answers and peace I needed. I gained my own testimony. I then served as a missionary in the Hawaiian Islands, and as I taught the people there about the gospel countless times, I saw the power it has to change lives. Many people also rejected and even fought against what I taught. The more they fought, the more that I saw the evidence that this is true! There is so much evidence of the truthfulness of the gospel, but also I have felt the witness of the Holy Ghost countless times tell me it is true! I continually pray to know it is true, and every time I do I feel that witness! This gospel brings hope to all those in this ever changing world. If lived and pursued with all of our hearts, it only results in greater peace, joy, and happiness! That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in a Single's ward in Orem as a teacher. I spend an hour each Sunday teaching others about the basic teachings and principles of Jesus Christ and His church. I am also in the choir for our ward and continue to share the gospel through music. I try to be a friend to all and to invite them to come closer to the Savior through the way that I act. Whenever around others I ask myself if I am acting as the Savior would. In all things I try to emulate the love that He has for them.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Samuel Major
We believe that that we are all part of God's family. As such, the greatest peace, joy, and happiness is found in family life. Kind of like having a peace of Heaven on earth. We also believe that through the gospel we can all live together again as families after this life, so we do everything we can in this life to be happy gospel-centered families. Show more Show less
