Hi I'm Nathan

I'm a carpenter. I'm a musician. I have a weakness for chocolate milk. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In short, I'm a carpenter, a musician, a mountain biker, a husband, and father. In more detail- I'm a carpenter: I design and build homes and buildings, repair furniture and cabinetry, and, in general, love to build and create with my hands. I'm a musician: I enjoy classic rock and barbershop. But what drives me is church and sacred music. I am a singer, composer & arranger, and a pianist & organist. I love mountain biking, but best of all is being... A Husband and Father: My wife and I have three girls and we are loving every minute. Nearly every minute. But our kids are getting old enough to enjoy biking for fun, too, which is a fun bonding activity.

Why I am a Mormon

I see people each day who are facing troubles that come from not living the teachings and standards of Jesus Christ as taught by the church. These are not just inconveniences, but avoidable heartaches. I am thankful to have been taught from childhood to not only avoid these pitfalls and problems, but that by actively doing good, we can feel true happiness and joy. Also, I am thankful to know that the message of the church is not that this happiness and joy are only for a select few, but for all of God's children on earth. But even without these practical reasons to follow the teachings and standards of the church, I still have had confirmation through the sweet, quiet witness of the Holy Ghost that this church and this path to follow are from God. Now I teach my children these same lessons and teachings and back them up with personal experiences.

How I live my faith

Working construction is a rough environment, but I have found that living my gospel-based standards wherever I go -without judging other people for whatever their standards might be- lifts me and those around me. Most people can and do respect another person's efforts to do what they feel is right. I feel that respect and know the other guys at work expect more of me because of it. Some of the other ways I live my faith are by helping out at church by playing the piano for the children's Sunday School (called Primary) and by playing the organ for the Sacrament Service. Recently, I have organized social activities for the members of the congregation, coordinated missionary work in my area, and have helped lead the men's organization. I do what I can to reach out to people who are struggling and need a helping hand. I have been helped many times and I want to give the same gift.
