Hi I'm Tanner

I'm a husband, dad, and student. I love the mountains and I love sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 27 years old and I am married and sealed to my beautiful wife. We currently have one sweet baby girl. There is nothing I care more about than my family. I am close to my wife, my daughter, my siblings, and my parents. I am currently a medical student and I will likely pursue training in cardiology. Basketball was my primary hobbie while growing up. I played for both my high school basketball team as well as a traveling team that played in tournaments around the U.S. I played point guard and shooting guard. Now I like to run or do anything else outdoors to stay in shape. Utah is a great place for the outdoors! After graduating from high school, I served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Serbia and Slovenia. I learned to read, write, and speak the Serbian language on a mission. Now, after my mission, I use the Serbian language to keep in contact with friends in Serbia. I also use Serbian to translate for Bonsian refugees who need healthcare services. I earned a bachelor's degree in political science. I wanted a background in policy-making before attending medical school. I hope to become highly involved in public/global health efforts as a future physician.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this life is one small fraction of a very long course. Not only do I want my family to be happy, secure, and safe in this life, but I want to be with them forever. Principles and ordinances of the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by ancient and modern-day prophets enable the realization of all the desires I have for my family. I know that, under the direction of God (the Father), what Jesus Christ (the Son of God) did for mankind gives me and my family the ability to overcome all obstacles in this life and remain intact forever after. I realize that life is difficult and trying regardless of one's faith, but faith in Jesus Christ and direction through His living apostles and prophet brings safety and peace to my family now and it gives us assurance that when this life ends, everything that brings us joy can continue. I am a Mormon because I know that there is no other way to return with my family to live with God and Jesus Christ in a state of neverending happiness, rest, and peace. I know that with all my heart and I know that others can receive a witness of this truth.

How I live my faith

I periodically serve at a clinic for the homeless in my community. I also have responsibilities in my local church group, which entails organizing community service opportunities for my church group such as taking the sacrament to those who are not able to attend church services on Sundays, cleaning Welfare Sqaure facilities (Welfare Square is and LDS organization that makes and donates food to those in need), and cleaning one of the LDS temples. I am also an instructor for my church group, which means that I teach lessons about the principles and ordinances we believe in as Mormons. Every few months, I and three others in my church group organize social events (dinners, watching sporting events, playing basketball) for those interested in our community. My faith is a way of life, not a once per week event. This fulfills my life and it blesses my family. Not only do we try our best to serve, but we are recipients of kind service from others in our community.
