Hi I'm Richard

I am a widower who remarried in my 'golden years'. I am a veteran. I am a birdwatcher. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My wife passed away in 2010 but left me with a wonderful family of 4 children and 15 grandchildren. I have remarried, meeting my present wife on the internet. I served in the US Navy for 10 years and am very proud of that service; I still serve my country as a member of the American Legion. I am an avid birdwatcher and have a life list of over 375 birds seen mostly in the US but also Bermuda and Europe.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Episcopal Church but as I grew older I found myself questioning the things the Episcopal Church taught. In high school I investigated many churches but was getting disenchanted with religion in general. While in the Navy I found out about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and started investigating the beliefs and principles of the Church. I found my questions answered and gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the Church and in 1979 I was baptized. My testimony has grown through living the principles and beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know my life is better for being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I testify that God, my Father in Heaven lives and His Son, Jesus Christ, atoned for my sins. I know God and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith, I know The Book of Mormon to be another testament of Jesus Christ and that it is true and a companion to the Holy Bible. I know the power of prayer and that personal revelation is available to all. I know that both the Law of Tithing and the Word of Wisdom are true and bless all who abide by them.

How I live my faith

It is popular in these days to say ‘What would Jesus do’, but I strive to live my life by ‘What would Jesus have me do’. I try to be an example to all I come in contact with, just as Jesus is our example.
