Hi I'm Jesse

I'm a philosopher. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated with a B.A. in Humanities and Philosophy and am serving a mission in Scotland and Ireland. When I return from my mission, I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in Humanities. I love spending time with my family, hiking, reading, and learning. My greatest desire is to be a teacher of students, and as such, i desire to learn as much as possible, for the deeper one's understanding, the deeper one's teaching.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church for my entire life. I always accepted was I was told and did what I was asked to do. One semester during my undergraduate work, I was taking several Philosophy courses and, as is the nature of Philosophy, was faced with questions about my belief and if that belief was justified. I found myself doubting not only the Church, but also doubting if God even existed. I was trying to find the answers using human reason and logic. Because of this, I questioned in my heart “O, God where art thou? And where is the pavilion that covereth thy hiding place?” (D&C 121:1) In spite of my doubts, I continued to go through the motions of reading my scriptures and going to church because that was what was expected of me. However, I wasn't sure if I believed in it. A good friend of mine helped me through this stage. He reminded me of the flaws in human reason and he told me that the gospel is worth believing in; the doctrines of eternal families and the hope that the Gospel brings are beautiful, and I would be giving that up for a world of doubt. From that conversation, I made the choice to believe in the gospel, and then, over the next few weeks and months, I received the indelible witness of the Spirit that this was the Church of God and that God truly does live. I testify that The Church of Jesus Christ or Latter-day Saints is the church of God. I know that God lives and that He loves us and that He atoned for our sins and transgressions. He died on the cross and was resurrected the third day. He lives. He loves us and wants us to return to Him. Of this is testify in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I currently am serving a full time mission for the Church. I love this Gospel and want to share it with as many people as I can.
