Hi I'm Doug

I'm a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

About Me

I'm a husband and dad with 5 children. My wife is my best friend and together we are doing our best to raise our children to be good, productive adults that will contribute to society. At work I'm a structural engineer. In Feb. of '99 we started an engineering firm. We now have 3 offices located in Idaho, Las Vegas and Sacramento. I work with some of the greatest people that I've ever known. I love what I do as a profession because we help people fulfill their goals and dreams. I love tennis, exercise and playing with my children. I'm always up for something new.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but when I was 15 years old I was old enough that I wanted to really find out if the things that the church teaches are true. Growing up I had be taught to pray to our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, so I was well acqainted with praying, really talking with God Our Father. I knew He listens and hears our prayers. For several months I had consistently been praying and reading the scriptures the Holy Bible and Book of Mormon. One night as I knelt and prayed by my bed I asked My Father in Heaven if Joseph Smith really was a prophet. A feeling came over me that is difficult to describe. The feeling helped me to be at peace. I felt joy and knew that Joseph Smith really did see the Father and the Son as he described. I knew then better than any other time up to that point in my life that Jesus Christ is my Savior and the Savior of the world and that it is only through Him we can return home to our Father. Since then I have learned be experience that when I following the teachings of living prophets and Jesus Christ and following promptings or feelings to do good to others that my life is better. I feel more peace and happiness. In essence living the teachings of Jesus Christ leads me to happiness. This is why I am a "Mormon".

How I live my faith

Within my church, I visit families that are members of our faith. Some of these families attend worship services weekly while others that I visit have not come to church for many years. Over the years I have found that people do need and want a friend. They just need to know that someone cares. Helping others has made my life much more fulfilled. It is just as the Savior taught, if we lose ourselves in the service of others we find ourselves.
