Hi I'm Manny

I work for FedEx. I am half Samoan and Filipino. A father to 3 wonderful children 2 boys and a girl. A husband and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in a Polynesian household and had the priviledge to have my grandmother stay with us while growing up. Having her there I learned a lot about faith, music, the Samoan culture and of the church. My parents taught me well as a child and for the most part I was a happy kid who enjoyed going to church, singing and feeling the Spirit. Music has always helped me to feel the Spirit quicker and I enjoy singing and being in a choir. I enjoy the outdoors, hiking and appreciating God's creations. Earlier in life I got away from the little things that kept me grounded like prayer and scripture study and I began to get prideful and not follow what I knew to be right. As I wrestled with the consequences of my choices I had to be honest with myself and listen to my heart. I asked myself this question, "Was I happy?" As I pondered my life and where I was heading I knew I needed to change. I knew that I was only happy when I was keeping the commandments and doing the things that I knew to be true. It was not easy, but I repented and made the necessary changes in my life. After serving a state side mission I met my wife who was a answer to my prayers and was sealed to her in the Los Angeles Temple. I have a wonderful family and continue to this day to do my best to be a good husband and father.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know it is true and I enjoy serving others. I am a pretty simple guy and I've read the Book of Mormon and it has always brought me peace. Growing up in the faith I have been blessed with a knowledge of the Plan of Happiness that a lot of my friends did not have and I took for granted. With that knowledge I knew that I was a child of God and that I would make mistakes, but through the Atonement I can repent and help others also to know for themselves that he loves each one us. I enjoy studying in both the Book of Mormon and Bible which also helps me to learn these things but also to receive answers to my questions. I enjoy feeling the Spirit each week at church and getting to know others in my neighborhood through opportunities to serve, but most important is knowing that we are blessed to have a Prophet and Apostles here to guide us and that I can receive counsel from them.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day by day...I always try to leave people and things better off than I found it. I try to keep it simple by doing the basics of prayer and reading the scriptures. My daily schedule changes weekly, but I have found that when I start with prayer my day goes so much better and I am able to be a better disciple of our Savior. My dad was a great example to me, and was always happy and willing to serve his family and friends at a moments notice. If I can follow his example I know I'll be fine. I have a wonderful wife who is a answer to my prayer. She loves the Lord and together we try to provide our family with opportunities to provide service in the neighborhood, school, or for friends and family. President Spencer W. Kimball explained:" God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs"

In whom should we have faith?

The Lord Jesus Christ. The more we learn of his gospel we understand that without him we are nothing. The 4th Article of Faith, states that, "We believe that the first principle and ordinances of the gospel are, first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, second, Repentance, third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and fourth, the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. It is only through the Lord Jesus Christ we are saved. Show more Show less
