Hi I'm Heather

I'm a mom. I'm a DIY home decorating nut. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in eight different states, and been to most of the others. The last chapter of my life was all about being a newlywed and finishing college. Now I'm a full-time mom with two little munchkins to try to keep up with. When I make a spare moment for myself, I spend it reading, writing fiction, or DIY-ing something for my house. I have an entire white board filled with crafty to-do's!

Why I am a Mormon

This is a hard one to put into words. I've been a member of this church my entire life. When I was young, it was because I knew it was the right thing to do. Now that I am an adult, I do it because I'm happier when I live the way I believe my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ want me to live, and I still know it's right. I still have bad days like anyone, but I have more patience and optimism to help make more good days when I make more of an effort to do what is right. I have seen many blessings poured out on my family through our choices to keep the commandments and follow our leaders' council. We are better off for it.

How I live my faith

I read my scriptures, write in my journal, and pray daily. I pray for the strength to be the best woman I can be. Maintaining a home and being a wife and mother isn't easy. When I ask for help and do my best, blessings come to fill in the gaps. As a couple, my husband and I pay our tithing and other offerings gladly. I am always amazed by how quickly the money comes back to us through bonuses at work, reimbursement checks, etc. I am teaching my children to do these things and keep the commandments the way my mother taught me.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Heather
Through the gift of the Holy Ghost, one can pray to Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, and ask for and expect to receive comfort, guidance, and peace via the Holy Ghost. For me, I feel the presence of the Holy Ghost, or "The Spirit", by an overwhelming feeling of security and peace filling my heart. It's like being wrapped in a warm, fuzzy blanket or hugged by my husband. I can still be worried or sad, but I know that everything will be all right in the end.   Show more Show less
