Hi I'm Josh Hanson

I categorically refuse the notion of happenstance. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am studying chemistry at a small liberal arts college and am enthusiastically pursuing a career in patent law. I recently returned from a full time mission in Samara, Russia in May of 2011. As a hobby I enjoy playing hymns on the organ. I also swim, run, hike and enjoy studying the gospel in Russian.

Why I am a Mormon

My roots in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints go many years back - on both my Mother's and Father's sides. My father's ancestors were converted in Sweden and emigrated with tens of thousands of other saints from that land. My Mother's ancestors accepted the gospel in England and Scotland and thereafter followed the saints' exodus to the West. I find pride and strength in the righteous pursuits and faith-full endeavors of my ancestors. But that is not why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon to be true and because I know that the Power of the Priesthood was indeed restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is true because it was testified to be so by God's left hand himself - even the Holy Ghost. I know the Power of the Priesthood exists within the worthy brethren of the Church because I have been healed and blessed, I have blessed and healed, and I have seen the same in the lives of many others. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is indeed the kingdom of the Lord established in these last days - and it is true.

How I live my faith

Becoming a liver of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the endeavor of a lifetime and it is my finite eternal focus to Become a true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am actively engaged in becoming such by doing the numbers - meaning worship at church weekly, bond by family home evening every week, fulfilling and magnifying my callings in the Church, applying the scriptures daily, loving through daily acts of kindness, learning and studying to secure a good education, and much more. I am so grateful for how the Lord's true Church is set up to raise us up - to build us up and help us become more and more Christ-like as the years pass by. The institution is set up for the perfecting of the saints. And by becoming an active contributor in the Lord's church is how I live my faith.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?
