Hi I'm Emily

I'm a wife and mother! I love to swim and sing! I'm a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

About Me

I am a daughter of God. I am also the daughter of parents who have been great examples to me in my life. I am a sister to several brothers and a couple of sisters. I am a granddaughter who understands the legacy and appreciates the path that my grandparents have left me. I am a wife, who loves my husband and being married. I am blessed with an amazing "in-law" family. I am a mother, I love my children and am so blessed to raise them with the support that the LDS church gives. I love water sports. I grew up swimming, and throughout my life have learned many ways to enjoy the water. My family and I love to go boating on lakes, I enjoy rowing, I've tried but failed to surf and I believe that anywhere there's water there is fun. I read. A lot. My younger sister and I recommend books to each other and have read, almost to exhaustion, our library's supply of the genres we appreciate. I would like to start to cross-stitch because I read so much I often feel that my life needs a bit more "work." My mother-in-law is a dedicated stitcher and her example inspires me to introduce that hobby to my life. I love being a mother. My children bring me so much joy and fulfillment. I know there is nothing else on this earth that will bring me more joy than to raise my children to be individuals who know God, who desire to return to Him,who love their fellow man and who in turn have great families. I graduated from college a couple of years ago with a degree in exercise and sport science. I approached college knowing I wanted to study in this field. I decided on the degree because I knew that it would help me keep myself and my family healthy. I am grateful for the education I received and know that as I apply it I can bless those around me. I feel like I'm a pretty regular sort of girl. My life has not taken too many unexpected turns or exciting adventures, maybe someday it will. For now I am a stay-at-home mom, who cleans fairly regularly, socializes once in a while, grocery shops every week, reads when my kids are napping, loves dates with my husband, and looks to the future with faith. I hope this helps you get to know who I am.

Why I am a Mormon

At first glance I am a Mormon because all my family is. More importantly I'm a Mormon because I have come to know that the gospel of this church is true. I know that the Holy Ghost has blessed me with a knowledge of its truth by giving me peace and a feeling of assurance each time I ponder its truths. My knowledge of the truth of the Lord's church came step by step, not all at once. In my adolescent years I came to know that the Holy Ghost testifies of Jesus Christ and of truth. Bit by bit the Holy Ghost testified to me that the Mormon church was Jesus' gospel, that all principles and doctrines of it were true. I came to know through this Spirit that the prophet Joseph Smith did see God and His Son. That Joseph Smith translated the word of God contained in the Book of Mormon. That the current leader of our church, Thomas S Monson, is a prophet of God. That he has been given the power of God to lead the Mormon church. This power, which we call the priesthood, is the authority given to man to do the will of God on earth. I know that the priesthood is real and blesses my life daily through a husband who also holds a degree of that same priesthood. I know that God hears and answers prayer and through the Holy Ghost directs us with personal revelation. I know that this gospel is His, that as a member I am doing His work, His will. I know that as His daughter I have a place and a purpose on this earth. He desires me to be the best I can be and follow Him. I know that as I am faithful He blesses me, and if I continue through my life to follow Him that I will return to live with Him in Heaven.

How I live my faith

Day to day I live my faith by praying to God, by studying His word and by living as He would have me live. I keep my body and mind clean from harmful/unhealthy substances and concepts. I adhere to the principles of the gospel, especially those that strengthen my family. I am faithful to myself, my husband, and my children. I try to teach my children to love and know God. I try to have a home that reflects my beliefs, that allows the Holy Ghost to dwell within, and that encourages my children to search for truth. Within the church I serve the six year old children by teaching them the basic principles of the gospel and I serve the community and church by guiding ten year old boys in the cub scouting program.
