Hi I'm Sariah Nichols

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am just an average gal who is still trying to discover the best things in life. I love to laugh and act goofy with my friends. I enjoy movies, books, and writing. I am in love with my 5 nephews and my two older sisters. I miss my mother who passed away in March of 2007. I am starting to build a strong relationship with my Dad and his kind wife Betty. I am single but I dream of my own family one day. I went to college for the wrong career, I didn’t realize that until one semester before graduation, but I finished anyways. I want to be a published writer. I am a loyal friend. I am a traveler. I am an artist. I am passionate.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a LDS standard home, I went through all of the motions that a youth should in the church but I never put the work behind them. I had no desire to be apart of the church. I didn’t have a solid foundation of my involvement in the LDS church fell away from the beautiful principles that the LDS church teaches. I asked my friends what they loved about the churches they went to, I went to meetings of many religions, and I searched different options I had in finding a church. Nothing felt right. One of my friends challenged me to read the Book of Mormon. I told her my family was already LDS but she still encouraged me to read the BOM so I could find out for myself if it was true. She told me that I had nothing to lose. I began reading the Book of Mormon and I started to pray every night before I went to sleep. My life was becoming more peaceful. Nothing had changed in my circumstances, but I could feel calmness in my mind, when I would read the BOM. One night as I kneeled by my bed I prayed that I would know if the BOM was true. I prayed about the things that were on my mind and I climbed into bed. My sister came into my room with a confused look on her face and asked, “Are you talking to someone in here?” I answered as if it was obvious, “Yes, I’m praying.” She nodded her head as if she knew exactly whom I was talking to. I cannot describe the spirit that I felt after that prayer and the small confirmation that I was speaking to someone, I was speaking to my Heavenly Father. The Holy Ghost bore witness that Heavenly Father did hear my prayers and that the BOM was true. I felt peace in my mind. I felt rooted to my new convictions and securely anchored in the calm feeling that burned inside my heart. After I felt the Holy Ghost, and I knew how I felt the spirit, I went forward in questioning other parts of the Gospel. Every testimony I have searched for I have been given a witness through the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I try to keep myself active in the church by praying and reading the scriptures daily. I communicate to my bishop when I feel as though I need help. I participate in Relief Society. I try to serve those around me. Whenever I feel as though I'm weak or if I forget my progress in the gospel, I reach out to my Heavenly Father as he instructs me how to use the Atonement in my life. The atonement is a wonderful and perfect gift. It helps us stay close to the gospel. When I am actively working on aligning myself to the gospel, I feel joy, I feel hope, and I remember not just who I am, but whose I am. I try to share my testimony with others so they know they are loved by God. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. It is the only true gospel that is on the earth today. The prophet, Thomas S. Monson, is a true prophet and does receive modern day revelation from our Heavenly Father. The Book of Mormon is the true word of God and it was translated by Joseph Smith, whom I believe was a true prophet of God. I believe that the priesthood is the power of God on the earth. I believe that families are eternal. I know that the Savior died for each of us, making it possible for us to repent and return to our Heavenly Father. I know that the Holy Ghost will aid us in knowing right from wrong, he is our truest friend and he has our best interest at heart. I believe that temple work lead us to eternal lives and eternal marriages. I bare testimony that the missionaries who are working to serve you are out there to help you feel the peace that I have found. I challenge you to read the Book of Mormon…what do you have to lose? I promise that the Book of Mormon will help you gain every answer you are searching for. Pray for the Holy Ghost to be with you. Pray to know our Heavenly Father hears you. Pray to know Jesus Christ and how to apply the atonement to your life. If you read and pray with an open heart, you will receive knowledge and understanding.
