Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a former teacher and a full time mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married for 7 years and my husband and I have 3 beautiful children. Right now I am a full time mommy, but before kids I taught elementary school. I love to read, garden, spend time with my family, and tackling new sewing and diy projects.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of this Church since I was a child. I am grateful for past generations of my family that made great sacrifices to follow their faith. Though I am grateful for the great legacy of faithful relatives, the decision to keep my life in harmony with the teachings of the church comes from my personal testimony. I know that Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I know that through Joseph Smith, Christ restored his church to the Earth and brought forth the Book of Mormon. I know that the Lord continues to speak to us today through a living prophet. I am grateful for that consistent, clear voice of truth and right through the ever-shifting values of society and man. And I know that by following the teachings of the Church and the Prophet, I have happiness and peace both in this life and after death.

How I live my faith

For the past three years, I taught Sunday School classes for children. Now I am an assistant secretary in our women's organization, Relief Society. I help with organizing activities for the women of our congregation as well as coordinating efforts to see that all women in the congregation are contacted at least once a month. It is a great blessing to be able to serve other members of our congregation and learn to love them as the Savior does.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a collection of writings from Ancient prophets. Lehi, a prophet in Jerusalem around 600 BC, was commanded to take his family and move to the American continent. His descendants built a great civilization. There continued to be prophets and these men kept records of their people and their dealings with the Lord. One of the last of these ancient prophets, Mormon, abridged hundreds of years of records into the book we have now and the book bears his name. The ancient writings were recorded on gold plates and remained hidden for hundreds of years. In the 1830's Joseph Smith was shown the location of the record by an angel. He was then able to translate the record into English, through the gift and power of God. In reading this sacred record, we can read about Christ's visit to America after his Resurrection and the teachings found support and clarify Christ's teachings found in the Bible. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that reading it will bring a person close to Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
