Hi I'm Jared

I am 23 years old. I attend college. I am married and have a child on the way. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favorite thing to do, besides being with family, is snow ski. If you know me you know I am up for anything outdoors. Every summer we go to Bear Lake to ski, tube, ride four wheelers, and have camp fires. I love to ride horses and go camping. As a kid I wanted to be a mountain man that lived by himself and live off of the land. Recently my dad and I have gotten into fly fishing. It is such a relaxing thing to do and an activity that brings us closer. My wife is from the same home town as me. I did not know her in high school even though she lives just down the street from my grandparents, we had mutual friends in school, and we have almost the exact same interests. We love to hike and go to Salt Lake Bees games together. We both attend college and will graduate together in about a year. I am going to graduate in finance and my wife in family and consumer science education.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because of several reasons. First I was fortunate enough to be born of goodly parents. My mother and father taught me about Jesus Christ and what he did for me. They also taught me about Heavenly Father and how I must follow the commandments so that I can live with Him someday. I have learned so much from my family and friends about the gospel of Jesus Christ both from their words and more importantly from their actions. I did however need to experience for myself the grace and mercy of my Lord and Savior. I was a freshman at college when I had the experience I needed to really open my eyes to God's hand in my life. I was reading the book of mormon to find out for myself if this really was a true book that can touch my heart. I had been reading for a week or two and it felt alright. I was sticking to it and I was understanding it. When I came across 2 Nephi 4 things changed for me. That chapter is about Nephi and how even though he had seen so many good things in his life he still had things that he struggled with. They were the same little things he had always struggled with. He decided though that he could over come them because he knew where his trust was, in Christ. Through Christ he could not only overcome all that he struggled with but that he could come out a changed man. He then prayed for God to forgive and thank him. I had never had the scriptures open up to me like that before. It felt as if I was reading my own story to God and that He was right there answering me on what I should do and telling me He loves me. The feelings really were indescribable. I knew from that moment that the scriptures were the words of God. That God was real, that He knows and cares about me, and that I am his spiritual son. I knew that Christ was my elder brother and my Savior. I knew that through Joseph Smith God had once again reached out his loving arms to restore His authority once again upon the Earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by loving my wife and family. I live my faith by serving others. I live my faith by communing with my loving father in heaven and doing His will. I live my faith by studying His word and sharing it with others. I live my faith by being happy and helping others become happy. I live my faith by going to the temple to renew my covenants, serve others, and being in the presence of God.
