Hi I'm Coleen

I'm married, with five children and four grandchildren. I've lived in six different countries. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Idaho, and have been a Mormon all my life. I thought I'd be in Idaho for all my life, as well, but I married a military man, and we moved around the United States for ten years. After that, he joined the Foreign Service, and we have been moving around the world for the past seventeen years. I have five children--two daughters and three sons. All of them are grown, except for the youngest. Right now my husband is finishing a year-long tour in Iraq. While he's been there, I've been going back to school. I am a teacher by trade--secondary--and I went back to school to get my elementary teaching certification. It's been a busy year, and we're ready to reunite and move on to our next post. We've lived in England, El Salvador, Romania, and Kenya. We'll be moving to Uruguay at the end of this summer.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all my life. It is difficult to describe why I choose to be a Mormon, because it is simply who I am. Sometimes I think about the kind of person I might be without the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I don't think I'd like myself very much. Being a Mormon has given my life direction and purpose. I know that this is the way I should be living. I know that this is Christ's church here on the earth. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know this with every fiber of my being. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am very involved in my congregation. I teach the women's organization on the third Sunday of every month. I always feel so inadequate, and then the Spirit takes over and everything comes out wonderful. I am also a Visiting Teacher. My companion and I get to visit two other women in our congregation every month. We bring them a message from the Lord, and, best of all, we get to know them. Some of my best friends in the world are women that I was assigned to visit. By fulfilling this calling, I came to know and love women that I never would have chosen to get to know on my own. In addition to serving in my congregation, I try to serve others whenever I see an opportunity. I know that we are all children of God, and I try every day to see others the way He sees them.
