Hi I'm Jared

I'm live in the heart of Silicon Valley. I'm a father of 3 and a lucky husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of three children. While I have spent my life in Silicon Valley, I have traveled much of the world for work. I enjoy working with the youth of our church and love the Boy Scouting program. I enjoy the outdoors including peace and refuge that I get when camping. For my work, I have had the privilege of working with great people and enjoy leading teams and solving problems. I have a love of US History and enjoy exploring the lessons of the past.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a fearful person and worry about almost everything. Without the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which helps me replace fear with faith, I am not sure I would effective at very much. I have come to trust that my Heavenly Father wants me to do my best and am learning how to trust my Savior Jesus Christ to do the rest. That is hard for me because I want to solve every problem on my own. Yet I've come to realize that the purpose of this life is to learn and grow and improve, not be perfect. The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings me peace - both for me and my family - in a world filled with trials and troubles. We face challenges everyday, but I know as I replace fear with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ I can find peace. While I grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I had to gain my own witness of its truth. This witness has come slowly, bit by bit, as I've strived to live the way my Heavenly Father wants me to. Many times in my life I have been a poor example of living a Christ-like life, but I have come to know I can overcome those mistakes by relying on the grace of Jesus Christ. I find the Gospel is very practical and an important part of my everyday life. Through study of the scriptures I feel guided to solve any challenges -- personal, family, work, community -- that I face. Because that has happened almost daily in my life, I have a firm witness that God knows who I am personally and loves me and wants me to do my best. In the end, the more I rely on my Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ, I find I am happier and can be of greater service to others.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith everyday. I pray regularly and study scriptures, both by myself and with my family, while trying to be of service to others. I enjoy attending church with my family and participating in service or activities throughout the week. I have spent most my adult life in the church working with youth (ages 12-19) and have really enjoyed watching them grow in spirit and character. Currently I work with another local congregation of our church to support them in their efforts grow in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every year I'm deeply involved in running a summer camp for young men of our church and their friends. In that experience I'm always humbled by the the time, talents and resources so many volunteer to make camp a great experience for our youth.
